Ok so my son was lucky enough to draw a youth only mule deer tag for the week of Thanksgiving in NM unit 45. Have only hunted mule deer this late one other time and that was unit 30 youth hunt two years ago we found doe and elk, but couldn’t find the bucks. Currently my plan is this unless...
So I have the lone non resident tag for the muzzle loader hunt October 15-19th this year. I’m very excited to just get out and be in the woods. Never stepped foot in the unit, but my research so far has me focusing on the area surrounding Fort Banyard and so other areas in the Gila national...
I have never hunted it during archery season. So don’t have any info in that regards. However if you draw the tag I would be willing to give you what general info I have that could help you on your hunt.
So I’ll send you a couple screen shots from on x maps showing two spots we camped. Both areas had a ton of sign. The area in the northern part of the forest is where we saw all the game. Very remote area long drive and rough roads, but never saw any other hunters would go back there. Location...
Yes, it was a great and fun experience with my son we spent 3 days hunting no bucks seen on the hunt. We saw probably a dozen doe and fawns and couple bull elk. Many coyotes and found a few arrow heads.
I lease and hunt a large low fenced property in south Texas that is owned by family friends. I haven’t killed a deer in years. Always letting my kiddos and friends do the harvesting, but caught a few trail cam picks of this buck late in the summer and this dad decided he wanted to hunt this...
Thanks for reaching out, I would love to visit with you. I’m working today but I could give you a call tomorrow some time if that works for you just let me know when would be best time.
I would also give two big thumbs up for A3 New Mexico. Ryan and his guides are first class guys in every way. I hunted 2018 twice with him once in 34 with my daughter on youth elk hunt and also for myself in 5b for mule deer. I’m am giving my recommendation although neither hunt ended in...
Ok my 14 yr old daughter was luck enough to draw late November muzzy tag for unit 13 NM this year. I did accompany my dad back in 2015 on a late October muzzy hunt in 13. He was successful on a great bull the first afternoon, but do to some health concerns with my mom we didn’t stay any...
I was wondering if anyone was ever tried rattling along with vocal calling elk during the rut? I’m from south Texas and we have great success here with rattling whitetails during the rut. I am heading to Wyoming next week for my first archery elk hunt. Trying to think outside the box a bit...
I will be heading out for first archery elk hunt in a little under 2 weeks in unit 94. I would love to talk in private with anyone that has intimate knowledge of the unit and is willing to talk. Would like to talk about area of unit and drainages I have chosen to focus on and my plan of...
I’ve killed only two elk out of a total of five elk hunting trips. First one killed at 11,000 ft. The 2nd one was killed at 11,300 ft. Six years later and approximately 400 yards away from where the first one laid 6 years earlier. Pic of packing my first bull of the mountain.
