I think its 8oz heavier than the leupold but i dont worry about it or a button on my elevation dial. ended up likely it so much i bought a second one for rifle i got for my wife ;) My hunting buddy...

    Sig Kilo5k

I have the exact same set up and love it. I have used the basemap feature on backpack trip. You range a spot, it gives you a dot on basemap with an azimuth (equal to the distance) to place on spot you ranged. Then you can hike to it! actually worked very well, and was able to go right to what I...

    Sleeping bag packing question

I second the loose stuff sack. takes up the full bottom of the pack. Compressing it too much lowers alot of the heavier items in your pack and doesnt keep it high in the middle of your back in my experience

    Bipod or no bipod?

I think the way to go is an arca swiss plate on your rifle stock and you can utilize the tripod you most likely are already packing in. Ive started using a bipod on my rifles the past couple years but the tripod would defintely help if you had an uphill shot that wasnt possible from prone...

So many boots! Honest opinion on best!

The last couple years I have been wearing the insulated Crispi Briksdal and will definitely be ordering another pair. maybe the non insulated version. they have held up great. Ive used alot of the other big names and they are solid, still wear some of them. The Birksdals are the first ones ive...

    First Pack help

I have used all the ones everyone has listed above in different degrees. All great products. I ended up with a kifaru frame and reckoning pack. depending on what you do you may not need all that. The only thing I dont like about the kifaru pack is the overall weight empty. Other than that, my...

    Western elk hunt camping method

Yes very important to be careful where you set up spike camp, have definitely seen a lot of people camp in basins, we want to hunt, and we just move on because we know it’s blown out, if they can see you, elk, deer, etc they’ll be gone. Even worse I’ve had outfitters set up camps in the bottom...

    (UPDATE)Optic dilemma need advice

I am in a similar position. I have the razor 12x50s and want to upgrade to swaros but like you I don’t want to drop to slc 10x42s and lose the additional power of the razors. But at the same time the swaro 15s are huge. Does anyone here pack the Swaro 15x’s on a chest rig or is everyone running...

    Western elk hunt camping method

Backpack in and set up a spike camp. Cut out all of your “commute time”. Roll out of bed and start glassing, makes it very easy to be in the right spot for prime time glassing when you camped 50 yards from it. And when you spot an animal on top of the ridge across the basin from you, you’ll be...

    FNG from WA

Been reading the forums for a few years, but wanting to get on and ask all of you for a few gear and tactic insights. Been hunting with a rifle in WA wilderness areas for a while and have had decent success with a few good trips to Idaho as well. Looking to make the change to archery for elk...
