Vets refusing to work on hunting dogs

I haven't had that issue, but I had a vet flip out because my Aussie tails were docked. Of course, I didn't dock them, so I feel she was just being rude and uninformed. I wouldn't be surprised if she refused to work on any hunting dog. But, no longer my vet. Based on the protests going on...

    MT Mule deer must haves?

Much of MT and Region 7 doesn’t have very good cell coverage. You might consider an inReach or similar. Also, bring chains and keep in mind that if the weather rolls in, it might be a while before it calms down. Also, it can be quite a distance between fuel stations/towns.

    Scope mounting loctite or not?

Just fyi, the thread locker that became Loctite was invented in 1953. ;) Probably some people were using something else before then.

    .300wsm barrel length

If you've shot it, and it shoots great, I'd leave it alone. I don't know what too long means in this context. Sure, you can cut it to reduce the velocity. The only 20" I've seen in a 300 WSM from the factory is a Savage although they also sell 24" as well. If you are wanting to restock...

    Scope mounting loctite or not?

If you go back and look, I clearly say I use loctite early in this thread. However, someone asked a question in their post about why don't manufacturers recommend it, and I responded to it just like I responded to your post.

    Masculinity and Caliber Choice

I get that but a miss is a miss no matter if it is 50 or 500. Some people get nervous whenever they shoot at game. Practicing on targets isn't going to fix that. I guess it depends on what you are calling "shoot well". There are plenty of people who don't shoot much any more who can easily...

    Scope mounting loctite or not?

One is pretty easy, they didn't try it with loctite, so they don't recommend it. A second is a bonus ... there are multiple types of loctite. Third, should they simply say thread locker since loctite is a brand.

    Masculinity and Caliber Choice

I'm not sure why you think that I don't understand. My point is that shooting short distances requires less practice than shooting longer distances. The amount of shooting required to shoot accurately at 100-200 yds is significantly less than shooting long distance. Obviously, someone should...

    Scope mounting loctite or not?

There are literally nearly unlimited combinations to try with different finishes on scopes, diameters of scopes, ring types, base types, and many different screw sizes. I don't expect any of the manufacturers try to test all combinations. However, there could be lots of reasons why loctite...

    Masculinity and Caliber Choice

I don't think caliber has a lot to do with it. If the goal is to shoot relatively short ranges and the gun is zeroed, why should the shooter shoot lots of times with any rifle unless they are doing it for fun. I'm assuming that the person has good fundamentals and already knows how to shoot...

Montana (and other state) hunter orange laws out dated?

I think orange makes sense because there are still people out there using rifle scopes for binoculars to determine what they are seeing. The hope is that they won’t have to bear down on me if I’m wearing orange although from what I’ve heard, some people still look at people with orange on...

    Scope mounting loctite or not?

There is no way to know if it's necessary or not since most of us don't know how close the tolerances are to each other. I use blue loctite on bases. Maybe it isn't necessary, but I know my bases don't move. For sure, the torque values would change a bit with lubricant.

    Joseph von Benedikt vs Formidilosus

I don't know either person, but a sponsorship doesn't necessary mean someone is lying. A lot of people just decide to use products they like for free. If the goal is just to sell, wouldn't they be switching products or at least models to sell a different one fairly often? However, I don't...

    Masculinity and Caliber Choice

Just a different angle, granted the military is always right, but why are we spending effort to move away from the 5.56 when a 223 is all they need?

    Bullet choice for... Squirrels.

It's small hole through a head vs small hole and large exit, so yes, they did open up.
