I bait Idaho for very year in hard to access areas in the Panhandle. I use popcorn with a Trickler barrel setup that Tyler Freel taught me how to make. 1 1/4 inch hole on one side on bottom. Remove bung on lid and run cable through it and anchor with bolt, washer and lock nut. Secure to tree...
I killed mine with a recurve so a 308 should be plenty! I wouldn’t hesitate to use a 155gr 308 out to 400. Put it in the boiler room and watch em tip over.
Trad is the original bowhunting method, I have hunted with trad gear only for the last 6 years. I have screwed up shots for sure. In six years I lost one bear and one deer. In my opinion using a simple bow and arrow setup is more ethical than using a compound that I can shoot out to 100 yds...
Been saddle hunting for two years and this year switched to one sticking instead of sticks and a platform. Total package weighs four lbs and I can get to 30 feet if I want to. Still use a lock on sometimes but I sure love being mobile and that light.

I am shooting a 19 with longs for a 64 inch bow. Super forgiving and I get full advantage of the limbs with my 29.5 draw. I am using the he Uukha Selengas and love em.
Found this dead head not too far from the Tri cities, I was chasing two bucks that made him look small. You don’t need to travel far to find good bucks just have patients and hunt hard to access areas.
Heliums are the cheapest for the weight, if you really want to cut weight and open a can of worms look into one sticking. You can make a platform using a lone wolf or novix seat replacement for cheap. Eastern woods outdoors is a great supplier for saddle hunting gear. Lots of DIY stuff to save...
