    Crispi Nevada discomfort questions

    I also just got a pair of Nevada's. I like them a lot, but I needed a 12 when I usually wear a 11.5.

    Outer Layers

I have worn them in the single digits all day with the right layering. When it’s that cold ,FL furnace bottoms, FL hooded kiln top with some type of soft shell jacket or vest. They do pick up burrs. Don’t get me wrong would love to have the Solitude gear but the Woolimate is good bang for...

How do you organize your gear?

Totes organized based on animal/style of hunting, backpacking gear, camping, etc. Whatever makes sense for what you do. I prefer several smaller totes over large ones when possible. They are labeled and it’s easy to grab the ones I need. Sometimes the whole thing goes right in the back of my...

    Looking to buy a muzzleloader

For what it’s worth I shoot a .50 Encore. Had it for 15 years or so. Solid all the way around, never had a miss fire. Keep the barrel and breech plug clean and use a good quality primer and you shouldn’t have misfire issues in any quality muzzleloader.

    Fall Turkeys

Anyone else chasing turkeys over the holidays? Our fall archery turkey runs until January 3rd. I have been getting after them but no success yet, but I am having a blast. I was on them this morning they just went the other way off the roost and off the private I have access on. If you can find...

    Outer Layers

I looked at the Solitude when I bought some new treestand clothing the year before last. I love me some First Lite gear but it’s hard to justify the price of highly technical clothing for treestand hunting. I went with the Cabelas Woolimate and have not been disappointed. I am bow hunting...

    Robot vacuums

I have a Eufy brand robovac. Works well cleaning up pet hair and dust. My house is all hard surface, have no experience with it on carpet. The comment about having house broke pets is right on. That happened to me. Dog sh** all over the floor and vacuum. It was terrible to clean up...

This is how we do it

What a great video. That is what hunting is all about. No product promotions, just two guys working hard and having a great time. Can't wait to do a sheep hunt someday. Josh

Idaho or Colorado for diy elk

I have been to Colorado 3 times for elk. There is always people, but if you put in the effort, you can find elk. I have never hunted Idaho. I think going where you can spend the most days hunting is key. When you are coming from out of state, you need to give yourself time to figure it...

Mathews Switchback. Keep it or upgrade?

I purchased a Switchback XT new when they came out. Killed a lot of deer with it and decided I need to upgrade. Upgraded to the Z7 Extreme, never really liked it, so a few years ago I sold it and bought a used Switchback XT. I couldn't be happier. Its the best shooting bow I have ever...

Mountain food try it before! Looking at you Peak Refuel

I have not had a Peak meal I wouldn't eat, all have been ok to great, but I am not picky at all. The biggest issue is they usually need more water and time than what is called for on the package or you end up with hard bits in there.

Do you cook oatmeal, ramen, etc directly in your Jetboil?

I don't put Oatmeal directly in my cook pot, usually use freezer ziplock bags. if I take it. More of a bar/snack person for breakfast while hunting. Ramen I do like to cook right in my cook pot. It cleans up easily if you wipe it out right away.

    Lurker goes Legit....

Been lurking and learning here for the better part of a year. Thanks for all the information! I have been a hunter and fisherman all of my life. Living in Indiana, I primarily chase whitetails and small game. In the last few years have been bitten by the western hunting bug. I have been on 3...
