    5.56 for hogs?

I need to look and see what I have when I get home. May just be FMJ’s, but I thought I had a few to choose from. At 55g I wasn’t sure if it mattered, and I can’t exactly go buy anything else right now. If all I have is FMJ I’ll probably pass and take my 30/06. I don’t really want to spend the...

    5.56 for hogs?

Is a 5.56 fine on hogs? All I have is 55g. I can use a larger rifle, but thought it may be nice to have zero recoil this time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Best pack for public land whitetail

I used a Kifaru 357mag this year for whitetail and I was pretty happy with it. I hunted open country in western KS.

    Kansas deer hunting advice?

Look for WIHA with tree lines near crops. There will be some winter wheat coming up in spots, especially south central KS. Mainly active at dawn/dusk then they disappear.

Western Kansas with a Stick Bow

I drew an any sex any species rifle deer tag in Western Kansas this year on the first attempt. I hunted the Cimmaron national grasslands during the rifle season. I saw plenty of tracks but not much deer. I didn’t see any other hunters during the week which was great. I did get a deer on a WIHA...

Moving to KC-- Missouri vs Kansas Hunting

Late reply here. Did you decide on a spot? I live in Overland Park (KS) and I wish I was on the Missouri side. MO has national forest, even had a limited elk hunt this year. I believe there’s also a bear season. Also, you’ll get more for your money buying a house in MO. Kansas has lots of walk...

    Backpack?

I’ll second the Kifaru 357 mag. Good space, fits great, and light. Compresses down fairly small, but expands to carry a bunch of gear or meat if you need to.

    Packs for mobile hunting

Maybe more than you’re looking for, but I used a Kifaru 357 mag this year for a deer hunt in western Kansas. I am pretty happy with it. Not heavy and it fit great. It will carry a bunch of gear/weight, but it compresses down flat also. I felt it was a great happy medium between a smaller day...

    accubonds

Haven’t hunted antelope, but I’ve taken a hog 75yds, and a medium size whitetail buck 300yds, with 165 g accubonds from a 30-06. Two holes both times, one bullet size and one quarter size. Both animals fell over where they stood and had almost zero meat damage. Sounds like they work for me.

My Kifaru Duplex/44mag vs Exo K3 4800 Review Thread

I have a Kifaru 357 with a medium belt (36” waist). The pack fits awesome and the belt padding reaches around me perfect, but I’d love a few more inches of strap the grab onto while cinching the belt down. Once it’s cinched down, it’s fine, but starting out there isn’t much to grab, especially...

    Non-Hunting Packs

Kelty Redwing 30. No issues after about 9 months of daily use. The belts not removable but does stuff under the lumbar padding. Fairly well made and is just under $100.

I'm torn on getting a new Kifaru day pack. Currently using E&E...

I don’t have an E&E to compare, but I used a Zippy for work for about 6 months. I travel overnight so it was always full of a change of clothes, glasses, shaving kit, iPad, necessary safety gear, and more junk. I set it on the floor of a locomotive each day. It works really good, nice pack and...

    Kifaru 357 mag

Got mine a few days ago. I like it. Bigger than expected, and it’s well laid out. I had my daughter stand in it (79lbs) and it carried her really well. I’ll likely not have more than 50 ish in it, so It should be very comfortable.
