I live not to far and am familiar with the area. Lots of easy country and a network of closed logging roads make for a lot of hunters but fair number of elk too. I wouldn’t hold out for a mature bull. I would either focus on some deep and steep country or try and work around the private ranch...
I carry six, 4 broadheads and one mech. Also one grouse arrow. I have only ever had to shoot one at elk. But if he’s still standing within range I am definitely flinging another
I agree on going with the VPAs, there is a lot to be said with being confident in your setup on your hunt. After season maybe tweak on your rest and maybe a more aggressive fletching combination in the back to help steer those Iron Wills. That’s a lot of planing surface out front
