The 280 AI is worth a look although options for a rifle are limited.
For the scope, either a Nightforce SHV or a Trijicon Accupoint/Credo/Tenmile in a magnification that you like.
I have both of those scopes. 3-15 on my 270. 2-10 on my 30-06.
I can’t tell a difference in the glass quality.
If you want a parallax adjustment, go with the 3-15.
No wrong choice here.
Have you considered the VX—6HD 2-12?
Or perhaps a SHV 3-10?
Mostly deer, 243
Most shots further out and maybe something bigger, 270
Deer and maybe something bigger at closer distance, 308
All great options. Look for a good deal on a rifle and get that one.
I switched to a 270 Win when I was 15. It is still one of my favorites. It is less popular today but still a great option.
Since you don’t reload , check out what ammo is available and see if that looks like what you’re after.
Although I am a fan of the 6mm Rem, finding a rifle and also ammunition would point me towards a 243 Win. Lots of reasonable options in that cartridge.
I have a T3x lite in 30-06 that I am happy with. 180 grain for elk and 150/165 for deer.
If you intend to do truly long range shooting, you might want to consider other cartridge options.
If you’re happy with it, it will do what you’re looking for.
Maybe get into reloading to take it to the next level with a heavier load, save some money and have fun doing it.
For reference, I shoot a lot of pistol each year. Having said that, although I love the large bore pistol, I have a substantially higher level of confidence in my ability to shoot accurate follow up shots with a semi auto.
With a revolver, I feel I would get 2-3 well aimed shots in five...
