I didn’t realize how badly I needed one until a buddy told me to level my rifle and send it down range a few times. Before every shot he’d pop a bubble on my scope, I was way out of plumb every single time.
All of my rifles now have spuhr mounts with bubble levels built in, and I’ve trained...
Have they? Why would they drop 7RM? That actually surprises me given the following of the cartridge. I know that eventually 7PRC is going to own the 7mm market, but dang. It ain’t there yet. Or I didn’t think it was.
It was! Since then, that action and barrel have been pulled from the stock and put into a chassis. It got even better. My brother borrowed it a week ago and shot a nice 32” aoudad with it. Newest project is a 6.5PRC, but 7RM will always be my first true love 😂
This will be my first year shooting NRL. I built a 6.5PRC and will be sending factory 147ELDM. I will not be competing, just using it as practice this year. Because of that, I plan on using the same rifle, ammo, optics, and tripod that I actually hunt with. Should be fun!
I started to sell pieces of gear and a few other rifles to help fund the build and started ordering parts. It took me about 2 months to get everything in. Here’s the finished product!
A few lessons I learned:
Don’t jump into a custom rifle immediately, even if you have the funds for it. Pick...
I don’t know what it’s worth, but figured I’d put this out there. I believe @mtwarden nailed it with his post… and this isn’t going to be nearly as informative - but I figure for the newer hunters out there kicking around rifle ideas, maybe this will help.

Ok, Fellas. Update since everything is on order. I am hoping to have it all in middle of next week and put together for range next weekend. Here was the final build list:
- HNT26 w/ folder and ARCA
- Impact NBK SA + Triggertech Diamond
- TS Customs 6.5PRC prefit cut carbon wrap and threaded at...
I did, yessir. It’s been a while since I weighed though, I probably should go back through my backpack this spring. I also just got a new scale.
We got one bear between us, but it was SUPER hard hunting. We were there in May, I think we were late. I’m curious how it will play out this year...
Thanks for the feedback, guys. Don't get too wrapped up in the pricing, I think most people are in the same boat as me and rarely pay full retail. I took pricing directly from the website so people can have something to reference if they are building a kit up - but most of the stuff I bought at...
Good info, thank you! I need to check out the new pump, that thing is too handy to leave behind. I agree with you on the batteries, but I get anxiety worrying about managing power back there so I just deal with it.
The chair is for glassing more than anything else. I have pretty rough back...
I usually either take two batteries or a battery and a solar panel. It just depends. I don't really have any other excuse than I haaaate worrying about managing power in the back country.
Hey guys,
I'd appreciate any feedback y'all have. I definitely pack some comfort items, but welcome your feedback anyway. The rifle is far, far heavier than I would like but i've made it work. I do have parts on order for a 6.5PRC in a HNT26 chassis, I should have it completed in time to make...
