    Meat Care Equipment Priorities

We don't know where or what you are hunting, nor what you are currently using. Assuming a large animal just hit the ground and you can't drive to it, my list goes: Knife Game bags Cooler Vacuum sealer Dehydrator - more versatile, not just for meat Grinder The stuffer and gambrel are pretty...

I think I’m finally done with Salomon

Soft boots don't last long. Light materials and abundant stitching present failure points. If you want boots to last, buy stiff soled with minimal seams and treat the leather to prevent it from rotting. If you want out of the box comfort that feels like a running shoe, you have to be ok with...

    Interesting 4/20 marketing by Simms

Maybe the banana was his last resort after forgetting his regular fish whistle on a rock?

    Has your dog been injured?

Once while camping, my dog jumped over a log and ripped his crotch skin on the stob of a branch that had been broken off. Another time, we got him x-rayed and found out that, at some point, he had broken a paw which since healed.

    Kuiu tiburon hybrid hoody

That's how I feel about the Tiburon material as well. I bought the shorts and pretty well disliked them until I got the DWR washed off.

    Did it make the jump?

I haven't read the originally linked article or case study. From reading your summary post, I don't see how they are making this jump. So the guy's friend dies of CJD. Did the first person mentioned die of CJD? "Had a history of consuming deer from an infected area" doesn't exactly inspire...

Montana (and other state) hunter orange laws out dated?

That's exactly what I thought of when I saw this.

    Bipod

I have a picatinny one that I would sell you, if you're interested.

    Any bacon fans?

Bottom left looks really good. What is "buckboard" bacon?

    Turkey leg recipe?

Thighs get slow cooked and shredded. I usually do similar with the drumsticks, except I do them for my dog and also keep the broth to add to his kibbles.

Picking the RIGHT hunting caliber/cartridge for the job. By the numbers

    @NSI the 143 is an ELD-X, FYI the M's are 140/147.

    Feedback on backcountry elk loadout

There's some solid nuggets in here. "shitting like a crippled goose" "shitting like a pet coon" "three pounds of stripper tits bouncing" 😆 Did I miss anything?

    Feedback on backcountry elk loadout

That's a good tip on softening the nut butter packets. Those suckers can get pretty robust when they're cold. I also typically prefer just having a couple oatmeal packets in the morning, it's quick and enough to be satisfying without being overly full. The peak breakfasts are really good, but...

For those using Go Hunt for making draw decisions..

I would be dubious of both 60% and 20% harvest success statistics. Colorado randomly samples people who had licenses that year. You could also have referenced the previous years on the CPW website. Besides, it seems like you are complaining about a tag that you haven't drawn for a hunt you...

    Feedback on backcountry elk loadout

Is that thermarest pillow the big lumpy one, with chunks of foam inside? If so, I have the same one and there's no way I'm taking that on a hunting backpack trip. Ditch the tent liner. Bugs shouldn't be a problem on a rifle season trip. Ditch most of the paracord. If it's 550, swap it to...
