Yeah screw kidney stones! I've had several myself including one last season on a solo scouting trip 5 miles from the trailhead. Woke up in my tent at midnight thinking I was going to die until the pain shifted and I realized what it was. That was a shitty night and a shitty hike out with a 50 lb...
Yes I was able to make a perfect quartering away shot at 63 yards on one of the bucks I found during scouting. 2nd day of the hunt, 1st stalk.

I just want to say that I really enjoyed doing the CBC. I chose a 60 yard MER on a 3" square because I haven't been practicing at all before this. Post #73.
I think we all get caught up just flinging away during normal practice and not really feeling the pressure that we do in a hunting...
I usually hunt the archery spike season here in Utah but have hunted the rifle several times as well. It can be a real cluster with people seemingly everywhere. If you were to do it I would suggest arriving 1-3 days early to try to figure out where the elk are at. Your best chances are either...
2021 Utah Book Cliffs Archery Buck
Extremely difficult to find any solid 4 points this year with the drought. Was planning on spending 10 days solo but ended up killing this buck on the 2nd day of the hunt, first stalk at 63 yards. One of the best bucks I saw all summer scouting. Have not...
Count me in.
MER 60 yards trying to stay in the 4" white square (edit, square is 3"x3" not 4 like I thought.

Always packing, usually my 10mm but I'd rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. Bears, lions, tweakers, illegal pot growers. Never know what you may run into.

Hoping to be at 10k plus chasing bug big velvet bucks again this August here in Utah. Might hold off on Nevada and Wyoming depending on how this China virus plays out.
