Thanks for the report. I agree, a 2-8x (even a 2.3-7x) in the same package would be enough for me. It seems like i shoot most large game at about 6x <shrugs>.
Couple that with a German #4 type reticle that included one or two windage/drop hash marks in something more univeral like MOA or MIL...
I have “normal” width and length feet, but very high arches and narrowish heels. I’d say they are thin but tall.
Boots sized to hold my heel often squish my forefoot and the top of my mid foot.
Salewa “Mtn Trainers” were the first boot that didnt crush my forefoot or top of mid foot and also...
What Marbles says makes a lot of sense.
If im eating dehydrated food from a bag I just use a JetBoil type stove; which, is often the route I go if i’m alone.
Ive cooked simple meals for two in the SnowPeak Trek 1400 (ml) set which looks similar to the 1600 Toaks set...
I have a regular Tikka T3x Lite and I would like to shorten it by ~3/4“.
Has anyone done this? Can I just whack it off the back and screw the butt pad back on?
Thank you!

I do the opposite. Thinnest possible wool shirt as a base layer. I believe all the natural fiber benefit hype, and think those benefits are maximized against your skin (and synthetics next to my skin eventually irritate it). From there out though, synthetics are hard to beat regarding weight...
+1 on Salewa Crows
My feet are "normal" width, high arch, and narrow heeled (one is half size shorter and slightly wider than the other fwtw). Typically boots that hold my heels crush my forefoot/toes and toes boxes that fit my forefoot leave my heel swimming; these are all the Sportiva and...
Around well fed bears I carry bear-spray and maybe a Glock 20; alone and traveling light around un-educated/hungry bears, Glock 20; early and late season bird hunting, a 12 ga (with birdshot, prayer and a "wait for it, wait for it, wait for it. . ." attitude; during deer/caribou/moose season a...
Well, we are talking about shotguns that were designed as “economy” tools. I got the cheapo model 500 and definitely noticed a fit/finish difference from a friends higher-end version. My GF got the child’s version of the cheapo model and it had some issues with the shell stop shaving brass and...
Not even considering the metal quality: Remingon’s QA/QC, in my personal experience, has been abysmal.
My 700 had the receiver drilled and tapped on a different axis than the barrel (using up 2/3rds of scope’s windage). A friend’s fancy grade stainless 700 had a burr in the barrel and shot...
A Glock with the new smaller frame. Unless youve tried the old large grip, like it, and DONT have someone with smaller hands who may want/NEED to shoot it. Smaller means “not large” not actually “small”...
Thanks for the review OP!
Thanks for the other suggestions! Its always a slog sorting out what equivalent options are (glasses make trying them extra important....).
