    I was thinking the same thing. If I was with 2 other guys and we all dropped an elk at the same time, it would be a, “great, now what?” kind of situation. I’m not sure we could get them all out in the same day.

    My point is you’re overdramatizing the effect of recoil over the average number of shots someone takes to zero a hunting rifle and take game. A 1/2 inch group vs a 1 inch group is a 100% increase in group size…and would have NO appreciable impact on the effectiveness of the shot.

    Modern stock design, recoil pads, and we aren’t sustaining fire on a deer. It’s a couple shots, tops. We aren’t talking shooting full auto with a BAR or an M-14.

    T3/T3x is a good rifle. Just remember, the 6.5 CM T3x has a longer barrel than the other T3x rifles in standard calibers. The 243 and 7mm-08 have 22, 6.5 has 24.

    I’m actually quite fond of the 300 Weatherby and 150gr TTSX. Start them at 3400fps and zero at 300 yards. You can hold on hair on a deer out to 450 yards. Makes for very little guess work.

    The cartridge matters less than the handling characteristics of the rifle. If you want light and handy for a style of hunting, buy/build to suit that.
