Had one Springer cut her pad on broken glass in the field, and later blow out a front shoulder that needed surgery. Had a Boxer go blind in one eye from a foxtail.

Knock out the primers with a removal tool.
Fill the hole in the base of the shell with epoxy or hot glue. Allow to dry.
Paint over the filler with a dab of brass colored paint, available at most hardware stores and at hobby shops.

Just finished "The Thousand Mile Summer" by Colin Fletcher. Guy backpacked thru California from Mexico to Oregon via the Sierras back in 1958. Book was published in 1964. Very interesting book.
