hi! look into the Alaska airlines card. they offer 1 free companion fare. when i looked into a hunt like this flying in to say Anchorage and renting a car was very reasonable and you wouldnt be beat up from the drive. some of the areas i looked into were couple hours away from hiking into trails with rental cabins on them. have a look into the Resurrection pass trail on the peninsula .best of luck!
