Amazing glass. Just make sure to try them before buying. I was one of the unlucky people sensitive to the rolling ball effect while panning. I liked the still image and ergonomics of the EL better than my SLC, but sold them/kept my SLC’s because of it
This is great advice. Good on you for recognizing the issue. I’ll echo warden’s advice that the goal is to never let yourself get to the point where you “need to get back in shape.” It’s so much harder to build it back up compared to maintaining. My advice is do the best you can to stay in...
I vote neither. Buy a nice set of 8 or 10x binos. Then save up enough to buy another quality set of 15x binos and/or spotter. Cheap glass isn’t worth the weight or $$. I would take a good quality of low mag binos over a cheap 15x bino or spotter any day. 8x42 SLC are always on my chest and see...
I’ve had the same Philippines made burris FF2 4.5-42 mm BDC for 20 years and paid about $200. It has held zero incredibly well. I can’t recall the last time I had to re-zero that rifle/scope combo and it sees a fair amount of hard use in the field every year
Thanks for the feedback and great point. I only typically backpack hunt for mule deer (maybe sheep/goat if I ever draw) and day hunt for archery elk/antelope. I’m trying to find the best do-all pack, but may be better served with a couple different bags for day vs backpack hunts
Do you know if this pack will fit a bone in elk quarter? I’m trying to decide between this setup and the stone glacier terminus. I prefer the Kifaru frame but prefer the bag/layout of the terminus. Too many good options to choose from
Great review Mike! The Kifaru frames have been the most comfortable for me. Do you personally feel the extra weight is worth it over a something like the stone glacier terminus or your previous seek outside pack (almost 3 lbs lighter). I mostly day hunt, but often do some November mule deer...
Had a warranty issue I inquired about last week. They handled it the same way they did several years ago and were excellent to work with. Sent a replacement belt two days later with shipping included. Hope the integrity stays
I think a lot depends on your glassing style. Optics are always a compromise. I primarily hunt Montana and Alaska. 10’s are a good balance, but personally I favor 8x42 on the chest and 15x56 always on a tripod. I almost always pack both. 8’s have larger exit pupil/better low light performance...
See attachment from Mayo Clinic. I’m always shocked when any eye doc would recommend sleeping in contact lenses with good conscience. Keep up the great work Tony
Great podcast, thanks! @ Tony Trietch (maybe somebody can forward to him? As an ophthalmologist/eye surgeon I would not recommend sleeping in any type of contact lens regardless of what your optometrist says. I’ve seen numerous corneal ulcers from patients sleeping in their contacts. These can...
