I have built one of these units too. I haven't quite finished the case feeder but will get to it at some stage, for now I just manually place the cases on the tray and the auto case dropper drops them when they're done. I used a servo for the case drop.

IMO rain gear is for sitting in the rain. If you are hiking in the rain you will get wet from either sweat or rain running down your neck. Being wet won't kill you but being cold will. Layer up and get a waterproof outer and you're golden.
