    Thick ass puffy question

I haven't seen anyone mention the First Lite Chamberlain so I'll be that guy - I posted about mine a good while back because I hadn't seen any reviews on it https://www.rokslide.com/forums/threads/first-lite-chamberlain-puffy.124733/#post-1174888 and since then it has proven itself to be one of...

    Shooting Glasses for hunting

This is just a quick post for fellow Roksliders on shooting glasses. If you don't want to read the rest of the post, here's the summary: Oakley now makes better ballistic shooting glasses than Smith. They are clearer with no reflection or distortion when you're scanning the woods. Read on if...

A question for those who haved used in-ear electronic hearing protection

I'm coming late to this discussion but after looking at all of the options, I think I've come up with a cheaper solution for skeet and trap shooting outdoors. Curious to hear your thoughts, Westonadkins. This is what I told a friend of mine when she asked what I was using for hearing...

    Seeking Base Layer Insight

I hunt both down South and in New England, so I think I may be able to help a little here. I'm also bald so I lose a lot of heat through my head - my system works well for me, I hope it helps some for you. We have a saying up North when you get out of the car - "start cold." Meaning, you...

What are your thoughts on the Kung Flu?

That's a great question, and I had the same thought. My understanding is yes. Two of my close friends (a married couple, husband is my hunting buddy) each have a PhD in biomechanical engineering, and they are studying Covid-19 intensively. While they noted that nothing is proven yet (they need...

    BlackOvis discount code?

Just confirming for the group - I just called in and was able to use the Rokslide discount over the phone with no issues. They were awesome and more than happy to help out. Thank you to BlackOvis for supporting Rokslide!

    Grouse populations

Total opposite in VT - Grouse populations are down. (West Nile was discovered in every county in VT save for one). My flushes are probably half of what they have been over the previous 20 years. I've been exploring new areas to hunt as a result - its still slow going. Could be cyclical, but...

    Insoles?

Are you guys getting the Lathrops custom cut, or just doing it yourself?

    Best tripod head for spotter

Does the image shift when you lock in the Promaster? Any chance you could elaborate on the advantages you get for taking on the extra 3 oz over the Benro? I'm willing to bet other members would love to know as well. Thank you in advance!

    Best tripod head for spotter

Resurrecting your question as I'm looking at the same one. It looks like while the S2 is lighter, your image will shift when you go to lock it in. I'm not sure if the Promaster does this, but I'm tempted to buy one and see which is better.

    Schnees Beartooth 2 or Timberline?

Thanks Elkeatr! One question - did you treat the leather on your boots with anything? I treated another pair of boots with Snowseal for close to 15 years - I was really pleased with how long they lasted. I treated a newer pair of Gore-Tex boots strictly with Nikwax and they broke down after...

    Schnees Beartooth 2 or Timberline?

A huge thank you to everyone who posted here - your feedback is valued by folks such as myself. I purchased both pairs of boots to answer the OP's very question for myself, and after wearing both pairs around inside for the day, going up and down stairs, and just generally trying to get a...

    First Lite - Chamberlain Puffy

Adding a photo of what duck hunting here in MA looks like to give folks an idea, and why I'm especially fond of the Chamberlain Puffy now... This was from 2017, back before the coat was introduced, and while I froze on this hunt, we killed a lot of ducks before our dekes froze solid.

FHF Gear Bino Harness and Razco Holster Review, By Matt Cashell

Awesome review - thank you Matt for posting. I thought I'd mention this in case it helps anyone get additional use out of their FHF harness - I use OnX Hunt maps and Google maps pretty regularly when hunting new terrain, both are apps that drain the battery quickly. I slid a 6700 Mah USB...

    Xbolt Mcarbo Trigger Spring

I installed the M*Carbo spring in my X-bolt. I don't have a scale to measure trigger pull, but if I'm honest with myself, I only noticed a small change, even at the lightest setting. I have several other rifles that break a lot more cleanly and with a lighter pull. I'm planning to go to a...
