    MYOG Tyvek Tarp

There are a ton of different ways to sew a ridgeline seam in a tarp but this is a popular choice by a tarp manufacturer: . I don't think Tyvek would be my first choice for a tarp, but it would be excellent for prototyping and getting some practice! I made mine out of 1.6 oz silpoly...

    Buying Used Glass

The person who posted the ad should have information under their profile picture like this: You can see they've had 39 positive feedback from sales/transactions and how long they've been a member. You can also click on their profile and there is a tab titled "Feedback Stats" where people can...

    Adding zippers to clothes

I have also wanted to do this and have this video bookmarked: There are a lot of ladies with really clever tricks on Youtube and the sewing forums. I think a #5 zipper would be a good size.

    Made me some tipi creepers

Those look great! Way to stick with it, my first few tangos with the sewing machine were similarly frustrating. Do you have a link to the pattern you ended up liking the most?

Ultralight Clothing Systems and Strategies; A novel approach?

Sounds like a great approach, especially considering you've already tested it a bit. Adding a wind layer to my outdoor clothes was one of the best additions in recent memory. What puffy do you use? Have you ever tried something like the wool fishnet base layers...

    DIY suspender loops

If you have an old pair of jeans you could probably cut rectangles out of that and fold them in half to make loops for the suspenders. You're probably best off going with whatever your seamstress suggests. I don't recall the width of the suspender buckles, but 1" elastic tape might be a good option.

    Adding down to jacket

I agree with the @WoodBow. I think turning an Uncompaghre into a down jacket would be way more effort than it'd be worth. You'd want to add baffles and that would mean deconstructing the entire jacket. You can buy goose down by the ounce though if you wanted to make your own jacket/sleeping...

    Best Sub-Compact 8x32 Bino: T*FL vs UVHD?

I picked them up on eBay. But they are becoming tougher to come by! I would also +1 everything @Spiral Horn mentioned above, it aligns with the research I did. The B.3s appear to be a great value option, and the Conquest HDs get great reviews. Good luck picking!

    Best Sub-Compact 8x32 Bino: T*FL vs UVHD?

I bought a pair of used FLs this year after my search for a pair of 8x32s. I tested both of the other pairs you asked about, but only in a store setting. It’s far from an ideal way to test binos, but I knew the view from all three would be an upgrade from my Maven C 10x42, so I wanted to handle...

Swarovski SLC -> Kahles Helia S

I exchanged a few emails with Kahles Austria asking about how the warranty would be treated if I bought a pair and brought them back to the US. Email exchange was April 2023, but I did not end up buying a pair. YMMV Me: I am interested in buying a pair of Helia S 42 binos while I am in Europe...

    Does cordura suck?

I do not think cordura is a poor pack material. It is a decent balance for cost, weight, abrasion resistance, material noise, and weather resistance. There are fabrics that are lighter but noisier or heavier and tougher. 500d cordura is (currently) a sweet spot for a lot of backpack hunters and...
