    New Rain Gear from FL

I've used the SEAK set up here in Alaska for many years and its help up great. Been bombproof for me. Excited to see what this new rain gear is all about. Like mentioned above, hopefully a little more packable then the SEAK but just as durable.

    Your Second Layer?

I've been using the Arcteryx Kyanite for later hunts and the Arcteryx Delta Lt for early season. Both versions I chose are full zips and hoods. They have hoodless and 1/4 zip versions as well. Great as an outer layer while hiking. I run hot and those two fleece mid layers have served me well.

    Nu-Way Propane Heaters

I run the single burner Nu-Way stove in my Cabelas 10×14 Instict tent yearly on moose hunts up here in AK during September. Ill run it for 45 minutes or so in the morning and several hours in the evening. Use the bbq sized 20 lb bottle. Ive gotten up to 9 days out of it. As most have mentioned...

First Lite Grizzly mitts are awesome. Use them in Alaska every fall deer hunting PWS in November. Solid gloves!!

2019 sheep hunt gear list....hows it look?

I ended up getting her down to 58 lbs. I couldn't imagine a 70 lbs pack......58 lbs was bad enough haha

2019 sheep hunt gear list....hows it look?

I forgot about this thread. I should probably post my final gear list/pack weight. Hopefully this helps someone. This is pretty dang close to what I went with. Might be a couple items I took out or added. Solo walk in Alaska hunt.

2019 sheep hunt gear list....hows it look?

I splurged and bought a Hilleberg Anjan 3. Went with the non GT model. I pulled the sheep tarp from my pack when my partner backed out and when I decided on a little heavier tent. Not brave enough yet to only use a tarp haha.

2019 sheep hunt gear list....hows it look?

No sheep. Ended up doing it solo as my partner had work stuff come up. Learned a ton, main take away was mental toughness and pack less food haha. Ended up at 58lbs pack weight with 7 days of food. Can't wait to try again. As mentioned above lighterpack.com

    AK PWS Rut?

Just got back from my first blacktail hunt in PWS AK. We hit the mainland and only saw 1 deer, but tons of tracks and a couple rubs. Kinda felt like we may have been a little to early for the rut. Had a couple inches of snow on the ground and in the teens for temps. Calling didn't turn anything...

What is the Arc’teryx equivalent of the OR Ferrosi grid fleece jacket?

Gamma MX is probably closest to the Ferrosi grid. I own both and the Gamma is definitely better. Both have that fleece type backing. Just more features on the Gamma mx and obviously a high price tag.

Soft shell comparison - Arcteryx, Sitka, Kuiu, SG - others?

I bought the Arcteryx Gamma MX hoody this summer for my moose and caribou hunt up here in AK. It is now my go to jacket. Pretty quite material, blocks the wind pretty good, and super durable. I wore merino base layer, puffy, and Gamma 90% of the time in temps from 30-50°F. If you go to the...

    Sheep hunting partner etiquette

I agree with you. With seeing the success rate for first time sheep hunters I'm honestly just happy I'm getting to experience this adventure. If either one of us gets a sheep it will be cherry on top. Thankfully we have been hunting moose and caribou for years so we are use to each others shit haha

    Sheep hunting partner etiquette

Very true with multiple rams meandering about. I could see an argument happen with each person saying they saw it first haha.

    Sheep hunting partner etiquette

Thanks for the input guys. With this being our first sheep hunt together I think we are gonna roll with who "spots it first" approach, followed by taking turns.
