Agree. I got a baleaf one for my kids and myself. It was really heavy, didn't breathe well. I use it for my kids as a cold-weather layer. Returned mine and got a Kettle Mtn Nofry. I'm addicted to sun hoodies - i have (and use) the Sitka LW, Kettle Mtn Nofry, Rab's new one (Force?), Patagonia...
I’m a shoe guy, not a boot guy, but it seems that the most common feedback on “waterproof” boots is that they’re not waterproof! I’ll take a light, quick-drying trail shoe over a heavy “waterproof” boot any day. Just bring a change of socks. I’ve gone days in the rain with trail shoes...
I signed up for my first 50 miler. 50 miles + 11,000k elevation gain. Pretty nervous! I did 40 miles with around that elevation gain, but a number of years ago. Trainings going well so far, we’ll see how it goes! At the very least I’ll get a good number of miles under my feet during the spring...
I have one also. It has its place as a lightweight midlayer that is really warm with a windshell but breathable without. Awesome niche piece for sleeping in, also... But yes, it will snag and pull like crazy so not a good outer layer in the hunting context.
I’d say you're correct. Both my Rab jackets—which are men’s—have zippers on the left. I’ve had a few other European-brand clothes, I don’t remember the brand, with same. Funny how it throws you off. I dunno, maybe servants dressed European men, or it’s the same as driving on the road!
New hotness? I'd say Arctyrx Norvan SL. They're a bit funky, but I like them. Super light, good grip, interesting design to get them that light.
I got them from the outlet site for under $100. I don't think they're particularly wide, and they aren't water-resistant but they dry super fast...
They have an outlet website. I've made several purchases off it and it's great. (Steeply discounted shoes and pants, I think.) There's also a physical salomon/arctyrx outlet in salt lake city; I've resisted the temptation to drop in there.

I got one while it was on sale. Great jacket for its intended use. Definitely want a windshell handy. Very comfortable, fits well, breathes well, warm. I like it for sure.
I think thes two guys have it right; nothing to add really, other than my experience is quite similar! Adding strength training is a huge benefit to a hunter, and to life. Training blocks that strategically scale up and strength/back on aerobic and vice-versa throughout the year are helpful...

I don’t need a wind layer if I’m running even into the teens; ran 6 miles at 20 degrees this morning with just a summer-weight running tshirt underneath.
