    7 SAUM Hammer Bullet recommendation

140 AH in a 280 remington with 57 grains reloader 16. Velocity settled on was 3160 and no signs of pressure. Very happy with the absolute model to get extra velocity out of the standard 280 case. I was shooting 150 berger classics with H4831 at a little over 2700 fps, and really glad I made...

What rife caliber for a 10 yr girl for elk

I see a lot of 7mm-08 rec's and you cannot go wrong with it. For my daughter's larger gun I put together a 280 remington and had a brake installed. The only reason I went with the 280 is because some of parts i had on hand were for a long action. If I had a short action parts on hand, I would...

Who hunts with a 10lb+ rifle?

I don't mind a 10+ rifle out hiking but I do really like the eberlestock packs that hold the rifle as well. I do get tired of that much weight slung on the shoulder.

    Suggestions for base and rings?

If you want a level, The Hawkins hybrid is really nice.. Put them on a couple of guns this summer and one was a ridgeline. Seekins mounting systems are really good if you are not worried about a level. And talleys are the most budget friendly. Ive used all three.

    Tripod plates attached to rifles?

Area419 rails for stock. I have a demon head- not the most expensive or super duty but it is sufficient if you have some technique. Larger sized carbon fiber tripods are helpful

    Battle of the 7's - 7mm-08 vs. .284 Win vs. 7x57

Love the 7-300win, 7mm08ackley, and I recent 280. The 280 isn't really performance based. Just something for a kid to hunt with and will Be capable of taking elk down.

New vs. Fire-formed brass - load development

Ya. I'd be more concerned with the barrel breaking in and how that will change. Not so much concerned on brass. But also think about brass being fired once if you turn necks and use bushing dies. Then that will change things a little too. You can do some load development while breaking in...

    Shoot or Toss Brass

Ya. Kind of like other says. I put a little imperial on lower half of case and I have a container of ceramic balls with mica powder to dip necks in. Works great. Avoids dents in shoulder but the debts will form out without any issue

    Open or covered turrets

I like exposed elevation and capped windage. Generally the reticles have hold for windage too. Prefer that to dialing windage

I got the maven b.3 for my daughter. Looked through them and very impressed. Really nice smaller binoculars.

    280 remington elk load

Interested in all the options you guys are throwing out. My daughter drew youth az cow this year and the kids rifle is a 280. Right now we are shooting Berger 150 gr. Classics with h4831sc. Ordered some 140 Barnes ttsx from powder valley early this week also. Have some hybrid 100v I would like...
