Sounds like you are on a good path already! Limited exposure to people to bring out the bad thoughts. Plus, with a guide position, you only have to be nice to people for a limited time while sharing your passion with them.
Really like Arca Swiss style quick connects. I don't understand why they aren't so popular in the hunting world as they are in the optics world. Makes sense to me to have tripods/monopods and have all gear attached the same way!
Have you looked at Tract's bino harness? It's cheap (so even if you try it and it doesn't work you aren't out much money).
