I use wood under rock panel. I then screw pieces together with a rough thread drywall screw and put pieces together with screws. Some crack filling foam and compound mixed with rock mix to fill cracks, then paint several layers.
Could walk you through it a bit if you go the rock panel route...
I use bondo for antelope horns but I use epoxy for sheep horns. I’ve seen bondo fail with sheep horns before, but for a euro mount it would be fine and cleans up easily. I always recommend cutting or carving out the bondo just before it sets up hard (once rubbery) and it cleans up really...
I’d rank Alberta over BC almost across the board. Some good bucks get killed in BC, but not nearly what Alberta has to offer, even in areas with reduced numbers or quality.
Ya you bet, def wouldnt be used for sheep trips. Ideally I probably need two pairs (one sheep/mountain boot and then a Pac). Was more concerned about late season elk/mulie hunting or cat hunting with some longer hikes in mixed terrain. I've never owned Pacs but kinda considering trying a pair...
Have been contemplating a pair of Hoffmans for a bit now. For years (since 2010) I've worn the Meindl "Winter 800" boot made for Cabelas Canada. It was an 800gr boot that was more of a mountain boot. I used it for several mountain hunts and has also worked great for prairie mule deer or...
Def wouldnt be Southern BC if I was choosing. Lots of great options in Alberta way up north all the way down south. Really comes down to the type of hunt you want, terrain, etc.
Ya the Revic seems to be made by Leofoto which caused me to look at some of the Leofoto stuff. Wasnt sure how uphill/downhill was affected more with a straight spotter and no center column vs an angled one. Agreed I dont seem to to a TON of extreme angled stuff. Might be more limited with...
I get that this may still create a 'movement' point that may be introducing more variables than leaving and shooting one off no center column.
Guess the decision is whether primary function is shooting or glassing. I spend a lot of time behind a scope on a sheep hunt (archery hunts as well)...
I should say, I dont glass standing up, and dont plan to shoot standing.
I also didnt see myself wanting to shoot a center column extended, and the longer one makes it almost impossible to shoot prone. That little Sirui 'short' column is a couple inches and felt it might provide the right...
Hey Guys,
Wanted some input on tripods. I've always used a tripod for glassing only. Swaro STS 65. I prioritize weight and packability for sheep/mountain hunting more than anything. Have never shot off a tripod before or considered it. Thinking of going to a system with Arca mounts on...
Sounds like my Pioneer 750 arrived today. Interested to test it out and ride it a bit. I read today on FB from someone who said its more of a 'rails to trails' type bike and not generally equipped for hilly country or backcountry stuff. Is it just battery life thats affected that causes them...
My 2022 750 is on the way as well. And as pointed out, it’s nice to see the 2022 model is a slightly larger battery than the small option on the 2023. Ideally would have loved a 17 battery but the price on the 2022 bike was way too hard to beat!!
Just one of the top ones I'd consider in the Yukon. They dont take a ton of clients and dont advertise much other than word of mouth. Some very successful bowhunters have hunted with them and killed some great rams. They prioritize age in rams and all I've seen have been quality experiences.
