I’m not sure imitation is the right word. Allterra already has a mold for their design. Seems like maybe they are just a bit ahead of the game, IDK?
It will be interesting to see which stock better. Seriously doubt Allterra can do theirs for $545 msrp but dang if we aren’t currently living in...
Nobody cares to talk factory mags or aftermarket mags and bottom metal along with OAL dimensions? What would you all consider to be the optimal setup for the cartridges mentioned?
Ya, I’ll reload… Seems the only company that supports their cartridges these day’s is Hornady and they always gain popularity accordingly. The aftermarket seems to follow suit with great components and in a pinch factory loads for cartridges supported by them are often the only things you can...
I’ve built alot of different custom and semi-custom rifles over the years. Mostly with Rem 700 actions but also several with Rem 700 style custom actions sharing the same footprint.
While I’ve been happy with most of those builds I’m to that age where I want to consolidate rifles and...
This cartridge is no different than any other cartridge , it does not “maintain velocity”. It simply looses velocities in shorter barrels just like everything else based on powder burn rates used and expansion ratios.
Not trying to be the “pressure police”, but Hodgdon has published and pressure tested data for .22 Creedmoor. I’d encourage all .22 Creedmoor owners to look at it!
Your 1-9” will run 180’s if it’s actually a “true” 1-9.. You will likely lose a bit of B.C. But trued up field data will tell you if there is an advantage to the 180’s over the 160 class VLD’s or not. Get out and shoot!
IMO, the #1 most overlooked part of a rifle build is setting up proper throat lengths!
It’s pretty simple, if you have tight mag constraints, pick the longest/highest B.C. bullet that your barrel twist rate can handle, then seat that bullet in a dummy round with an OAL .050” shorter than mag...
