Yes, you 100% have to keep your head on a swivel driving in that country or you are likely to end up with a new hood ornament. When I was there hunting it looked like herds of ants crawling over every open mountain side.
I got the survey as a nonresident who has applied for the unit in the past. I don't see how a general tag will do anything, you could issue 10k worth of type 1 tags and have no access to the animals.
My Wisconsin buck taken October 13th. Never would have guessed he grossed that high. I almost passed on him until I saw the beams were nearly touching and I could identify which buck he was from years past.
After testing probably 40 different loads I think I've settled on 55.3 grains of H1000, Nosler brass Fed 210's, and 143 ELD-X's. Shooting 2927 fps I just have to load up a few more and see what they do at distance. Hoping to get it figured out before Wyoming antelope starts.
For any cheap scope I go with a Burris Signature HD with the E3 reticle. I have a few Nightforce SHV's and a Huskemaw and I have a hard time telling a difference in the quality of glass. You can also get a custom turret made if you're looking to shoot long range
Anybody else switch from the extended magazine to the hawkins precision? I have a 6.5 prc and the hawkins mag is incredibly tight fitting. I'm thinking about sanding and rounding the corners down to make an easier fit.
