I haven’t had a chance to shoot mine yet, waiting on a barrel from Carbon Six in 6mm Creedmoor. Should be in any time, I ordered it mid February. I know Gingerman has got his together and shot it, maybe he can give an update on how he likes his.
I took a couple deer and elk with the 180 gmx out of my 300 wm. Two years ago I took a cow elk at 530 yards with it, used 71 grs of IMR 4831 with Peterson brass. With the velocity that the 300 can push the 180 gr bullet, you will be fine out to 400 yards for a monolithic bullet.
I haven’t shot mine suppressed yet, but if that’s your goal then I would go with a 20” barrel.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Apparently we are limited on the size of our response, so I had to break it up.
This is probably my only complaint for the Tikka, the action isn’t long enough for seating bullets out to 3.6”. The Tikka mag only allows for 3.38”. I changed to a Red Snake bottom metal. Way overpriced in my opinion for what you get, but it does allow me to use an AIS mag and seat bullets to 3.5”.
I went with a 24” sendero with a 1:10 twist. The twist rate is my one regret on the barrel. I agree with you, a 1:8 or 1:9 would be better. But if your going for those heavy for caliber bullets, you may have to look at changing out youbottom metal to allow for longer bullets. You may have...
Sure, I would be glad to share my thoughts. I have been very happy with my carbon 6 barrel. Everything I have tried in it has shot sub MOA. Most of that ammo was my reloads from previous rifles and not developed for my C6. I haven’t had the chance to do a ton of load development for it (running...
I love how people think a new expensive rifle some gunsmith built for them is magically going to turn them into a better hunter.
As someone who practices long range shooting, I have realized that most people have no clue what their bullet will do past 300 yards. Nor do they understand how much...
My wife and I bought REI 20 degree his and hers sleeping bags a few years ago. The openings on the sleeping bags face each other and the zippers are the same length even though mine is a “tall”.
I lived in Missouri for a while before moving back here to CO. But during that time I really enjoyed bass fishing and would go as much as I could. After moving back here I have fished a ton and I have caught some bass here, but it doesn’t even come close to bass fishing in the Midwest. I don’t...
It seems that you have checked all the the normal variables. The fact that you are having the same problem with both guns tells me it’s something with your reloading and not the guns. First place I would check is your scale. I have a Frankford scale and every time the batteries got weak, it...
