Waterproof issue... did you get the single, double, or triple vamp? Triple should be water tight but warm. They make those boots not far from where I live and been wanting a pit for years. This could be the year

Right size stuff sack for Kuiu pro down.

I know this doesn’t answer your question but I have some buddies that through hike long distances for a living and they weave and stuff their down items throughout the pack as the most efficient way to utilize space. Down has to puff up to be a valuable insulator so compressing it will lose you...
