I own and breed Pudelpointers and Wirehaired Pointing Griffons. Relax, I have a legitimate kennel and have all my dogs tested for genetic and other health issues and they’re all registered and tested in NAVHDA. I have owned and hunted with many different breeds of dog and I will say that there...
Large size highlander eastern ruck. I bought it last year the day they were first released. Awesome pack, I only used it once to haul extra clothes and equipment for my daughter when she came out hunting with me. Im only selling it to raise money for mule packing equipment. $400 text me if...
My 12yo son killed his first archery deer over the weekend. He shoots a little Hoyt at right around 40 pounds with 100 grain Kudu point heads. He was hunting from the ground and made a 15 yd shot on a yearling doe. The broadhead hit just behind the shoulder cut a 3 inch entry hole and passed...
Congrats on completing a great story. Ole Joe worked hard for you since you worked hard preparing him. My buddy and I rented horses, never agan. I had a bay mare that I finally re-named “El Diablo”. She enjoyed the finer aspects of mountain horse living such as: bucking riders off, escaping from...
We took a few pictures but didn’t spend alot of time since I wanted to get him cut up and cooling. The pic in my avatar is the best one I have. My son was absolutely devastated when he found out. I called home when we finally got cell service when driving home and told my then 8 year old boy...
I shot my first elk several years ago on Labor day. The temps were staying above 50 so my friend and I boned out the elk, hung the head and meatbags in trees well away from the carcass and packed out over 80lbs of deboned meat apiece on the first trip out. We got to the trailhead / vehicle...
I have four complete pack saddle and pannier set ups with britchens. Also bungee tie outs and stainless steel screw in tie anchors. Basically everything you would need to head out with llamas. Switching to horses since im feeding them anyway. The packs are flaming star brand. $1250 obo.
I have no idea where the brands are from. I bought Louise the mule in northern Wisconsin and was told she had been a pack mule “out west”. The pic I posted was from the gentleman I bought her from. I haven’t fully tacked her up yet. I’ve been handling her every day and finally set the pack...
I went ahead and bought one despite your advice. I already have horses and they’re great, I just really wanted to have a mule. I’m loving this thread and I can’t wait to see Joe with full panniers in the mountains.
Great post, I’m glad I found it. I’ve been thinking about getting a mule and I really enjoy the training tips. Cute kids too. My wife and I bought a small farm two years ago and we finally got to have some stock. My kids just started riding a little and they’re not too brave. Your little guys...
I’ve only met very nice people out in the wilderness of Colorado. Left my 6 man tipi and stove unattended many times with zero problems in a pretty busy spot. It only takes one dbag to steal your things, but I don’t worry about it.
