I like my stockys hunter. Needs some fitting and tinkering but for the cost and weight I’m very pleased. I got the plain carbon one and finished it myself.

That is awesome! Excited for you. Nothing like the time between the realizing you actually get to go hunt sheep and opening day. Go hard!

Altimeter mitts pretty solid and are nice and packable. Wearing a liner glove can get a little tricky but mostly manageable.
Black Diamond mercury mitts are probably slightly warmer and can be found for cheaper. Burlier construction. I’d recommend sizing up.
Strongly recommend hand warmers...
Imho it certainly wouldn’t hurt. I think something that’s often overlooked is training the rest of your body gets with a heavy pack. Joints, shoulders, core etc. From my experience there’s no way around it other than time and miles. Obviously weight training, stretching, running and biking all...
Definitely. When I lived in a flat area at sea level I’d also look for parking garages and drainage ditches/culverts to practice side hilling. Worked pretty well all things considered.

Listening to it now. What’s funny/ironic is before I quit drinking I’d listen to him in my garage and delete cases of beer.
