    Torn calf muscle

Man, I'm sorry to hear that. From the pain and lack of mobility I've experienced so far, I'd say that's damn impressive that you were still able to do an ironman that same year. Does it still bother you hiking in the mountains? I'm used to putting on some serious mileage and elevation all...

    Torn calf muscle

Reviving this thread as I just tore my calf playing basketball with my son 5 days ago. Went to jump up while my son accidentally stepped on my foot and boom...felt like someone kicked me in the calf and dropped me like a ton of bricks. Have seen both an ortho and one session of PT. Ultrasound...

Ever Used Your Sidearm While Hunting?

That's pretty cool! Did you do any training with her to get her to not bark or spook game?

WTS Salewa Rapace GTX size 11.5 - $150

Bought these new for $300 and wore them on a couple deer hunts and scouting trips, put probably 40-50 miles on them, so still in really good shape. They just don't fit my feet. $150 TYD

WTS Salewa Rapace GTX size 11.5 - $175

Bought these new last October for $300 and wore them on a couple deer hunts and scouting trips this spring, put probably 40-50 miles on them, so still in really good shape. They just don't fit my feet. $175 TYD.

If you were starting from scratch, which daypack setup would you buy?

I've got the Exo 1800, 3500, and 6800. Wouldn't trade it for anything. Use the 1800 in early season and 3500 for late season day hunts. If I'm packing in for a few days, I'll use the 1800 as a stuff sack inside the 6800 to get to camp, then use it to day hunt from spike camp.

New MT Mule Deer Rifle Season

Never said that. Just know what I'm seeing doesn't translate long-term.

New MT Mule Deer Rifle Season

There's a huge difference between over objective and over objective on public land. Public land gets beat to death for 11 weeks here, unlike states that actually manage their seasons. All those states allow residents to draw a tag every year, they just don't go balls to the walls thru Nov like...

New MT Mule Deer Rifle Season

This isn't about "trophy hunters" or "I want a season just for me" hunters. It's about MT FWP ignoring the downward trend of the past 10 years, skyrocketing number of new resident hunters and new age technology. It's not a sustainable season long term and a lot of people believe we should be...

New MT Mule Deer Rifle Season

I'd be curious to know how many folks in favor of the rifle rut hunt are non-residents. It's pretty easy to be in favor of it when it extends your season another month after your home state is wrapped up. Hell, if it's such a good idea, maybe we should start requesting every state in the...

New MT Mule Deer Rifle Season

Ok, we can agree to disagree on that approach. All I know is that I've seen first hand how the quality of the hunt has diminished from piss pounding them through the rut with rifles. My solution was to rifle hunt for a few weeks in October and archery hunt in November. That doesn't shorten...

New MT Mule Deer Rifle Season

So, were these seasons during or before the rut? That's a huge difference and if they're not apples to apples, then it doesn't really hold water. You cannot honestly say you're going to shoot more deer in 3 weeks of hunting in October when bucks aren't chasing does, than you are in 2 weeks of...
