    Water purification

I run the sawyer squeeze, with the quick connect attachment its a breeze. Can fill your hydration bladder without emptying out your pack. Keep a few spare empty bags (weigh next to nothing) allows you to grab water quickly when convenient and then filter when you have time or are at camp.

rehydrating your own meals in the back country: What bag/container do you use?

I second this. The Cabela’s vacuum seal bags are pretty durable. Very rarely do I get a puncture as mentioned above and the seal is great to keep the water in the pouch while dehydrating!

    Newbie Camera Suggestions

Both my wife and I run Sony A6000's they are light, and relatively easy to use. Sony has a great suite of apps you can add for things like night shots, time lapses and landscape photography. The Sigma 30mm prime lens that my wife runs is super sharp. I personally use the Sony G 18-105. allows...

Lowa Tibet GTX or Baffin LL or Garmont Troubkal GTX

I picked up a set of the Lowa Tibets about 2 months ago. The lace lock system to prevent the lower portion of the boot from loosening is great and the little tab on the tongue of the boot allows one to lock the tongue in position so it does not slide side to side. Also a bonus for me. They fit...

    Jet boil

We have an MSR Windburner, a Jet Boil Flash and a Jet Boil Minimo The Windburner and flash are very similar although the edge goes to the Jet Boil for the ignitor. The mini mo is more stout and wide. It is nicer to eat out of as the "barrel/bowl" isn't as narrow but it is a pain to pack the...

    Game bag Recommendations

We have used the cheaper "cheese cloth style" and they work well but are terrible to clean. Last season we switched to TAG bags and these are a stiffer fabric so boned out meat is packed easier and the cleaning process was super easy!

    Dehydrator.

We run the 80L commercial Cabelas dehydrator. 12 shelves, can do a ton of jerky or fruit at once. All digital timing and not too loud. Works great for meals as well. Have had ours for 3 years now

    LEM, Weston, Cabela's grinders

Another vote for the Cabelas 1HP, have had ours for 4 years and have ground 100lb+ at a time when doing sausage days and have had no issues. Keep the parts in the freezer leading up to the grind and keep meat slightly frozen and have not had it overheat. Bonus, we got ours before the BP buyout...

Does anyone hike with their hunting packs?

I am also from Calgary area, I use my Stone Glacier Sky 5900 on a X-Curve frame for most of my hunting and backpacking. I also run an Avail 2200 for smaller day hikes and small game hunting. I'd be able to meet up with ya so you can see the items in person, always nice to get your hands on...
