I'd most likely look at a Kimber Montana 6.5 Creedmor for a one and done rifle for everything I might hunt in the next 30 years.
The local shops near me have plenty of quantity and variety in 6.5 Creedmor.
Other cartridges that were once seen as very popular have fallen by the wayside, I went...
New Zealand Barracouta, they pack a nasty bite and will often cut the line before you even realize you've had a bite.
Quite tasty but often full of worms in the flesh so I tend to release them
Here's my old man's pre '81 BLR .308 that I learned to deer hunt with, I love that rifle but man is it a tank compared to my carbon stocked Howa Mini 😅
One day when I inherit it, that suppressor is coming straight off as it bananced so much nicer bare barreled with a 1-4x20 scope
My harness has a handy pocket in the back which holds my phone and this knife for day hunts.
When wearing the harness the knife sits there pretty good.
If I was on a multiday hunt wearing a pack I'd slip the knife into a pocket on the pack.
My 3yo nephew is fascinated by my Leatherman Wave, always borrowing it to try and pull apart/fix his toys.
I've been trying to find a little kid friendly multitool that he could take where ever.
Fenix HM50R.
easily fits in a pocket, comfortable, USB-C rechargeable but can also use CR123 batteries, has red and white lights and enough brightness settings to see plenty no matter the terrain
My Howa .223 wasn't the smoothest when I got it, and rather than sitting there with sand paper I just got a heap of ammo, went to the range a few times and used it.
It's pretty damn smooth now
I've tried it on a few goats and even neck shots are a hard no from me with the 30gr Vmax.
Too much flesh damage without actually hitting the spine hard enough.
