Defensive Edge in N Idaho has a week long school. Shawn, the owner is very knowledgeable when it comes to long range and extreme long range. He’s also an all around good guy.

Used external pack frames with everything strapped to it. Bear baiting is nasty & you’ll get stuff on your pack that’ll never go away.

Did one on 3/15/24 got approved and picked up my suppressor on 3/25. Individual, Form 4.
I went through a local shop (Triple B guns in Coeur d’Alene) that absolutely has their crap together. They have a retired deputy on staff to do fingerprinting. They do the passport photo onsite and they...
I have used the heck out of my Rossi Tuffy (and its predecessor). I love that little gun. I’ve probably killed a dozen turkeys with it and countless grouse. It throws a very good pattern with lead and tss shot. The short barrel only has a fixed choke, whereas the longer barrel has screw in...
I had an untrappable mouse in my shop. One day I had just gotten back to work from fishing and I saw it sneaking down the corner beam behind my computer. I happened to have a marine air horn in my pocket. Without thinking I held it up to his head and blasted it. The mouse ran off.
The next day...
The larger the front objective the better the theoretical light transmission, but parallax causes more problems and the higher you have to mount the scope.
On the other hand, if you go too small it’s a pain to get snow and pine needles out.
I like ~42mm front lenses.

If it’s sick enough to need killing, you probably have enough time to call fish & game & ask. Their response will vary depending on the situation.

My family has had 8 Toyota & 8 Subarus (and a couple minivans & Explorers). We live in rural N Idaho & traveled for hockey all winter. For snow less than ~8 inches we pick the Subaru or Toyota AWDs every time. Once the snow gets deeper than that we preferred our Tundra and Sequoia.
A heavy...
Yes, in 1992 I saw one about 40 miles east of Grangeville, ID. Got to watch it for several minutes from less than 100 yards.

I didn’t read all 118 comments, but me and my family have had a few. 85, 86, 95, 2001, 2007, 2009, 2011… I might have missed a couple. Two kids in hockey in Idaho and Minnesota. Lots of miles on bad winter roads.
We beat the living snot out of them. I wouldn’t pick one unless dealing with bad...
I’m on my third Tundra (01, 13 and 20) with a lot of hard miles and zero dollars spent on repairs. I get 17 at normal freeway speeds and 14 ordinary driving. I lift and level them and add a canopy.
I am always shocked and embarrassed by how much I am able to sell them for when I’m done with them.
I’m happy with my Kimber Mountain Ascent in 7mm RM with a Leupold 4.5-14 (40mm) scope. It’s very light and accurate enough for its intended purpose. For an all around gun out west, I don’t think I’d change much.

I have killed hundreds of animals using 95gr Ballistic Tips and Hornady 87gr BTHPs. Mostly out of slow twist 6mm Rem and factory 243 barrels. Worked great on coyotes and deer sized game. They both shot well in every rifle I loaded them for. I would not use them on larger game, they are pretty...
