    6.5x284 Hunting rifle?

I have one. Tikka t3x that started life as a 6.5 Creedmoor, used a carbonsix 6.5-284 barrel, 24", 1-7.5 twist. Shoots 156gr Bergers at 2840ish fps. I've only shot a pronghorn with it, pretty devastating at ~460 yds. Easy to load for, not enough recoil to hurt your shoulder after a 40-50 rd...

    Masculinity and Caliber Choice

Well my daddy's peepaw's uncle always told him not to trust ass shooters. Everyone in the large metro area I grew up in knows it. Had a little saying around those parts, "Texag10, don't you go wastin no more of your time on them internet trolls, ya hear?" Go shoot some shotgun hulls with a .375...

    2011's stacattos and others

The models with the legacy magazine are pretty large, blocky guns in the grip. They shoot great and reloads are a breeze though. Anecdotally, the "best" feeling grip on a pistol to me was the HK P30. In both da/SA and LEM flavors I shot it objectively much worse than a gen 4 Glock 17, even...

    6mm-284 lets hear it!

I have a Tikka I've rebarreled to 6.5-284. I've loved the performance on game, but wouldn't mind a 6mm faster than the Creedmoor case to reduce recoil from my 6.5 and still give good velocity in a much shorter (18-20") barrel. What would I need to reload 6-284? I have a Hornady match 2 die set...

6mm /.243 hunting success on Big Game

He's said before 1800 fps is the lower end for reliable upset from ELDX/M/TMKs, Berger hunting bullets you really want 1900fps or above

    9mm home defense

I can remember when all the people shot with 9mm (124gr Gold Dot) by my department died at the scene, while all those shot by .45 (200gr Gold Dot) had to be fought to get them on the ambulance. Hits matter more than cartridge given the bullets meet some criteria Except there are downsides to a...

    Colorado Assault Weapons Ban

I will be holding my breath until there's a bill to prevent going above treeline in the afternoon in late summer.....

    Colorado Assault Weapons Ban

Fair enough, I appreciate you providing links to look over. I'm in full agreement with the part I bolded, the best way to avoid being a homicide victim is not engaging in organized criminal activity. Do that, and your chances of getting murdered start to look vanishingly small.

    Colorado Assault Weapons Ban

Depends on the definition you use. Kind of like what is an "assault weapon", it's whatever is politically expedient. If you use the definition of 3 or more killed in a single incident, I would bet a large sum of money that your assertion is wrong. If the bill is signed, it'd be in effect July...

    Colorado Assault Weapons Ban

Sorry, we're not allowed to talk about the fact that multiple gun laws were already broken by most of the people involved in crime with a gun. That 15 year old in Aurora that bought a gun off Snapchat? This ban will TOTALLY solve that problem. Denver city council passed a concealed carry ban in...

    9mm home defense

Why? Is it the marginally greater expanded diameter? The increased recoil? The higher cost for training ammo? The lower capacity for a given size? For the OP: something shown to achieve at least 12" of penetration in calibrated gel with expansion when passing through a variety of barriers, that...

    AR and SBR Recommendations

12.5", and it is suppressed, which is why I went SBR in the first place. Nice and fast up close (usually .17-.19 splits inside of 10yds on a USPSA A-zone) and plenty capable at 400yds and beyond with an NX8 1-8 too. Great gun for protection anywhere you can have more than a pistol.

    AR and SBR Recommendations

I've only drawn and had my finger on the trigger for a person (3 of them) once, but the only thing remarkable was how unremarkable it was in the moment. Clear shirt, acquire proper grip, draw, front sight on sternum, just like the myriad practice reps. The "oh crap" came after. Your "less...

    The Shoot2hunt Podcast

Currently own a staccato P and p365xl. The 2011 is noticeably easier to shoot. Dot never leaves the a zone inside of 10 yards, and I do not try to muscle the gun. You can shoot as fast as you can see.
