Drop down from the top of that trail and go west instead of crossing the divide. Take the trail to towards stormy peak and nebo. I’ve only seen a handful of backpackers that far in.

Do prairie dogs count for this discussion? Or are we talking just about squirrels. I typically shoot prairie dogs with my 75gr hpbt 5.56 rounds, or my 108 eldms in 6mm ARC.
The squirrels that keep getting in my truck engine bay are getting targeted with 12 gauge turkey shot. But that’s a whole...
What horsepower range are you looking at? Buying used or buying new? We run both Deere and Kubota equipment ranging from 75hp to 175hp. If the Kubota dealer didn’t sit between the ranches I manage I wouldn’t own one. The only advantage my Kubota tractor offers me is quick parts pick up. Who can...
This has me really excited for mine. Colorado requires a minimum of 6mm for big game. I ordered a howa mini 6mm ARC in kryptek camo. Should have it in hand by next week. I’m hoping it shoots as good as yours.

Having been raised in my dad’s taxidermy shop. That mount is utter shit. The tan was done wrong, the eyes aren’t centered, and the ears are way off. I’m not sure what you paid for that, but it was too much.
There isn’t anything you can do for that. You could find a different taxidermist to...
One of the ranch trucks has an 85 gallon tank. Goes about 750 miles between fill ups. It replaced the stock tank before delivery. Highly recommend it for people that have the need. We also have several 40-55 gallon transfer tanks in other trucks. Not as handy if you plan on using the bed and...
All my personal horses live in a permanent hotwire set up for grazing, never a problem and they respect it infinitely. When I’m out in the mountains I turn them loose with hobbles to graze, when I go to bed they get highlined. Typically I only hobble my lead horse. The rest never venture far...
Some people like learning the hard way.
Do some research on clinics and pack training schools. Any local Backcountry chapter will be active in doing trail maintenance, so go volunteer and go to the meetings.
I’ve got a friend down in my part of the country that’s starting a pack clinic and...
Well crap. I sold my 6.5 PRC after I destroyed two mule deer with it this year, went with a smaller caliber rifle to preserve meat. Guess I’ll dust off my ol’ .300WM in October and check the zero to make sure it’s good to kill elk this fall. I would certainly hate to find myself in a situation...
Southwest Colorado. I went down to part time last year and took a full time job managing a ranch down here. The other thing that always got me exhausted was more the mental aspect of dealing with a constant barrage of people. I had to set some serious boundaries and operating hours.

I know for myself I try and mix some electrolytes and extra vitamin D in during the winter shoeing months. It helps my body recover faster with drinking less fluids.
Shoeing full time is tough on a body. Most guys here have no idea. Definitely get blood work, but I know a little what you’re...
How long have you been full time shoeing, and what’s your average number you get under in a week? What’s your typical liquid intake per day?

What’s your idea of precision in a gas gun? A friend and rokslider helped me build a 6mm ARC that shoots 1 moa with factory loads, 10 round groups. It doesn’t have to be top of the line for it to work. The rifle was a little finicky to get dialed in, but has been solid to shoot now.
