Spent a couple days out man was it hot. Did see a couple big bulls, which was cool, but I had a spike tag. The main area I had scouted and had found a large herd in leading up to the season had sheep in it. The bulls were still by themselves, and not a lot of bugling.
Headed up to Emily to trophy spike hunt in a few hours. Thinking more about a bear more than anything else. Should be a fun few days.
Which part of the Snake are you going in from? I have spent some time in there in the spring chasing bears.
I have passed on cows many times now. I tell myself I'll take any elk, but I just cant seem to pull the release on a cow. I will take a spike if I only have a short while left in the season. Can't kill a mature bull if your tag is hanging on the ear of a cow.
I have a wind pro hoody that I really like. I great piece that pretty much goes every where with me now. Cuts wing pretty decent and I like that you can custom the build. I don't like looking like everyone else, and now I don't. The price point is good with it being made in America. I am...
I have never had good experience with cheap shoes. I have a history of shin splint issues, and I find that cheap poorly fitting shoes make it way worse. I go to a running store and have someone watch me walk barefoot, and have them tell me a few shoes that should work good for me. The extra...
I have a wind pro hoody and I really like it. I am not sure that it will go on my kit for hunts, but I have been using it for work and daily use and I find myself grabbing it over many other similar layers. The cut actually seems a little big to me. I am usually in between Xl and L and the XL...
Head over to the the Train to Hunt website and he has a lot of information about it. They just lowered the cost of entry as well. I have been trying to get a few things moved around with my schedule so I can make it for the weekend. The full draw film tour will be in town the same weekend...
Lost 4 pounds so far just from eating cleaner, need to find a replacement for coffee and sodas though. Thinking about just popping green tea or NoDoz, thoughts?
Try and drop the caffeine habit altogether. It really isn't necessary to life, though many would argue this point with me. If you...
Seems to me that everyone who has a test model really likes it, so it must not be a bad piece of gear. If everyone who tries it really likes, then there must be a market for this type of jacket. All I am saying is that it doesn't seem to fit into my kit at all, and people who are given a piece...
This just doesn't seem to fit my gear list. 19 oz? That is really heavy for a puffy layer. I use a puffy layer for insulation while stationary and I sure don't need a DWR finish for it, that is what a soft shell is for. With my soft shell only being 2.5 oz heavier I am just not sure what this...
I just figure the smoke smell might be better accepted when you told her the only "for sure" way to get it out. I personally love the smell of campfire smoke in clothing. I often times smoke wash my clothes when in the back country to get the body odor smell out.
I have used the precip for a few years for backpacking and I really like it. I have a climbing 3 layer hardshell that I take on most hunts now. For the money the precip is a good choice when you know you aren't going to be facing constant rains.
