    Spent a couple days out man was it hot. Did see a couple big bulls, which was cool, but I had a spike tag. The main area I had scouted and had found a large herd in leading up to the season had sheep in it. The bulls were still by themselves, and not a lot of bugling.

    chances at cows

    I have passed on cows many times now. I tell myself I'll take any elk, but I just cant seem to pull the release on a cow. I will take a spike if I only have a short while left in the season. Can't kill a mature bull if your tag is hanging on the ear of a cow.

    clothes smell like smoke

    I just figure the smoke smell might be better accepted when you told her the only "for sure" way to get it out. I personally love the smell of campfire smoke in clothing. I often times smoke wash my clothes when in the back country to get the body odor smell out.

    Rain jacket

    I have used the precip for a few years for backpacking and I really like it. I have a climbing 3 layer hardshell that I take on most hunts now. For the money the precip is a good choice when you know you aren't going to be facing constant rains.
