We had a very long chat at the airport, after our disappointed hunt with our outfitter, with the head guide and owner of Arluk outfitters and was impressed. They also close the last week of the season to keep the population up. Maybe worth a call !!
Went with Ironbound in 2021. Nothing but a shit show for a trophy fly-in hunt. From the lack of communications, to a over hunted spike camp(according to our guides),to costing me an additional $700 to have horns shipped back. Mark overbooks for the big$$$. PM me for all the details.
That's why I'm leaning towards the combo hunt. Alot of other hunters say when you see elk there's always a mule deer around on the same hunt. Forgot to mention this will be my first elk ,traveling from the east coast and I'm pushing 70 yrs, old.
It's $10.000 for the elk hunt and another $6,000 for the mule deer. The outfitter says we could tag out in 5 days. But would also like us to book the mule deer hunt back to back 10 days total for $9.000 with less pressure on the elk hunt
I'm planning on a elk hunt this fall (oct. 1-5) on a private ranch(CMU) in Utah. Is it worth the expense to add a mule deer tag to the hunt and tagging out on both in 5 days.
Try carhartt's logger jeans. With the double fronts you still have protection with the inner layer. They usually hold up for me as a roofing contractor for a year.
I'm right handed but left eye dominate, but growing up with a left handed older brother who I would go target practicing at an early age would always tell me I was holding the gun on the wrong shoulder! So 60 yrs latter I'm still shooting left handed. But that be said I also have shot
many deer...
Has anyone over 60 without a hunter safety card taken the online course. I've been hunting for over 55 years
in 8 states and 2 Canada providences with only proof of holding prior hunting license. Is there a handbook to review the test before taking it on line, or is the test really just common...
My hunt was cancelled on a large ranch with a land owners tag . Could this be a local thing. The hunt is rebooked for next year same dates, Similar to cancelled covid hunts.
I shot a bull in NL last year with a 30-06 with hornady 185 EDLX at 227 yards it took 3 rounds in the lungs broad side to bring him down with no exit wounds.
We shot two bulls in NL last year. The guides quartered them in field to be flown out. We had the quarters chunked and brought home 200 lbs frozen each. Probably left 50 lbs of hamburger on the carcass by guides choice!
try a pair of mucks ,a lot lighter than most other brands and give decent ankle support. You can also roll them down to cool off while glassing or napping (LOL). I'll be up there the same week in WMD 1 plan on walking up to 7-10 miles a day.
