    The GT Kinetic Kaos will be a couple gpi lighter than the fmj and way tougher especially using hits with them. I think that's the toughest over all shaft I have ever used. Still comparatively heavy though. As others have said the GT hunter series is great too.

    I also have a classic. I have not had an issue with 5ish years of frequent use. I always bring back up batteries.

    It is required by code with asphalt shingles in my state. I can't see any application where it would be advantages not to use it. The whole point of roofing materials is that water will not "get under it" if water is getting to your sheathing that's a failed roof. I would check code in your area.

    To Bivy or not to Bivy?

    I use a bivy for specific trips still, but I have been really happy with my summit refuge and a piece of tyvek. Lots of space for 2 pounds and good ventilation. Bivys definitely trap moisture if you're wearing wet layers dry in your bag.

    Play around with a ballistics calculator I think you will be surprised. At reasonable hunting ranges and with the right load you will definitly be good to go.
