If you can maintain your mental focus in that space, I'm sure you'll do fine.
One of my mates is a classic puncher, but we hunt close enough that he usually gets away with it. Has hunted with a Wise Choice for a super long time and started using an Evolution at the archery club to get some...
I don't hunt elk so take what I say with a grain of salt.
Firstly, when people refer to back tension release, it confuses me with what they mean. Is there a trend where people call a hinge a back tension release? I've seen people shoot indexes and thumbs with perfect back tension, and hinges...
The hunting is fantastic as always. The fallow rut is really starting to ramp up now so the next few weeks will be good.
I run a Reckoning and have a few pouches and a guide lid to use when I need the extra capacity.
Cheers.
Yep, that's definitely the case.
I try to assemble my arrows as best I can, make sure they spin, and have all other aspects of my tune taken care of fairly well. For this reason, it doesn't really matter what broadhead I use, so I just choose to use what I feel confident in. I doubt I'll ever...
Absolutely, but everything is a trade off for the most part. The broadhead I just posted went through a deer very easily but got a few nicks in it after it hit the granite dirt behind the deer. A DB broadhead may have done a bit better hitting that dirt, but regardless, the SB is re-sharpened...
I've mentioned on here before that I love single bevel heads, but it's less to do with me believing they make a huge difference on game and more about me finding them much easier to sharpen.
I'm currently using the Aero 1 from Crafted Archery. A bit of a different looking head in that it's a...
Marksman Quivers from Australia are worth a look. A modular system with a variety of options for securing quivers to bows. I honestly don't think you'll find a better system on the market.
It does shoot great, and it's an easy poundage as well. Arrows came out nice and long and around 500gn so it's a good weight for an ASL and still plenty of power to poke through some critters around here soon. Got a buck with my wheels over the weekend so if I get another one or two early on I...
I've just finished building an ASL with a mate of mine - Colin from Outlaw bows. The riser and base of the veneers is ironbark and the end of the veneers is red elm, from my house yard. The ironbark was cut at my best hunting property.
The bow is 68in long and 45# @ 28in.
I'll post a heap more...
Annoying to read that it has happened with this release, as the moons/sears moving on other hinges I have is one of the reasons I would consider getting an Ibex.
I had an interesting experience with bare shafting recently.
I've mainly been on the wheels the last 12 months but got a beautifully made longbow recently. It's only 45# @ 28in, so nice and easy to shoot. A fair amount of backset in the limbs so it's quick for an ASL. I wanted an arrow as long...
Hold the jaw open with your hand and slide it onto the D loop? Mate, you've got some wires crossed regarding how to attach a Stan Clicker to your D loop. If the release is cocked you literally run the D loop through the jaw and it grabs it fine. It takes less effort than a Nock 2 It or a Wise...
I don't really want to shoot a trad bow further than about 25 metres on animals. A much faster arrow (among other things) gives me a much further point on, and this annoys me for hunting. I have a setup I use for target stuff and it launches a short arrow at 195fps, which gives me a point on...
I've just taken up a bit more work doing writing for a shooting magazine here. I'll need to review some rifles and the editor told me I can get equipment at very good prices. Currently using a Caldwell chronograph, which works OK, but one of those new Garmins is tempting me, BIG TIME.
