I have a Gen 3, I like it a lot. I handled a Gen 5, but for me, not worth upgrading. Nothing wrong with what I have, like the old saying goes, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."
I have both a 12 & 20 gauge, I've used both for deer hunting being that I live in a shotgun state, and I've found a 20 gauge slug appears to shoot a little flatter and get a few more yards out of it compared to a 12. Plus it's definitely a lighter gun. For small game, a 20 gauge is my choice...

I won’t talk you out of a 300WSM, and I don’t own one either. It’s a great cartridge for sure. The only issues I’ve ever heard bad about it, is feeding and the price of brass and factory ammunition.
