This is where I came from. Dropped down the nasty steep chute below my hand.

Beautiful photos and congratulations! My only question is, where's all the rain? You must have went to CO to goat hunt this year, eh? :) Good job Adam.

Thanks Gregg!! Funny guy!! I saw a 5 day window and took two days off work to capitalize. That’s the beauty of hunting right from your backdoor!

Fun fact—not one motor was used to harvest this nanny. Something I’ve never done before. All man powered!

Bio thinks she’s 8. I’ve had a few guys say maybe 9. All I know is she’s 6+ and tastes great!

Jake, you’re a rebel and a (non but not really) conformist!! I know what’s around your shins and ankles these days!! You’ve begun the morphing process.

Great pics and very nice goat.

Don't know about the Fireball and Raindogs though. :)

I’m gonna stand my ground on the raindogs!! However, the fireball is only something I indulge on in the backcountry. Mix it with my cider before bed and I’m lights out....or maybe it’s the Advil PM. Either way, it warms me up before I nod off!

Congrats and sick pics man! I got back from a successful solo goat hunt 2 weeks ago and will put together a write up and video/pics as well. As one of my most accomplished hunting buddies told me after getting back, solo goat hunting is elite as #&$K!

The most important piece of equipment I brought were the trekking poles and in-step crampons. The crampons made the hike down with a loaded pack safe. Otherwise it would have been a sure way to injure myself. I broke a trekking pole during a little tumble so looks like I will be upgrading to one of those longer nifty ice axes next year. Any sketchy moments during that steep descent?

To drop into the valley, there was a bunch of boulder hopping and alder busting. There was really only one 200 or so yard long pucker cliff. It was one of those spots you knew you should never been on if it was wet. But thankfully i had a tremendous 5 day window of weather this year and everything was pretty dry and all the creeks were relatively low. So getting around was as easy as it’ll probably ever be. That decent would be pretty much a death trap if it rains. I’m gonna have to find another way into that country if it’s a wet year. Or really test my pucker feet with micro spikes or my insteps. Either way, it’ll be interesting! But that’s the price we pay to get into amazing country!!

You can get those long ice axes online or if you live near Anchorage there is a mountain gear shop that’s across from REI it’s a little locally owned spot. Can’t think of the name, but they have them in stock there. I love the thing. I’ve used it in so many ways a trekking pole or whippet would have failed. Excavating a spot for the tent is a good one, wedging between two rocks to pull yourself up over a cliff, chipping ice to boil, the list goes on and on basically- I freaking love that thing.
