Funny how hard they sleep sometimes. From a stand I have seen a whitetail buck flop down like a tired dog and proceed to fall fast asleep and even twitch like dreaming dogs do. This was in the rut and was on a little knoll with several other deer who were bedded but not asleep.

This guy was twitching too. I’ve got some video of him doing it. It was pretty funny.

Great pic is right! It's really cool to see them like that. I don't know how much of their day they actually spend sleeping but I bet it isn't much. A couple weeks ago I saw this little two point laying flat on his side, legs all sprawled out, head down. I honestly thought he was dead. I had to watch him for 10 minutes before he finally picked his head up. Wish I would have snapped a picture.
