Rut 2018

The rut is going full steam here in Co. The past couple weeks or so the alpha bucks have turned stupid and are showing themselves. Fun time of the year to get some pics If you are a mule deer guy.

I will add a few pics when I get the chance but what are you guys seeing? Anyone getting any good rut pics?

I am ending up with some good pics from this year no real giants yet but some good bucks. This fight was worth the watch.

I am heading out next week to Western Nebraska. Hoping we can catch the tail end of the Rut there or even a good established pattern between bed and feed.

Wow really?
Its 100% over in Oregon for at least a week.
Still a few forks and small 3s with does.
Anything 4 point or better are back in the hidy holes.

Always interesting to see how the deer act differently in different area's of the country. I was hoping someone would report.

Here in Co - yep they are still rutting saw one buck about 3 miles from where he was the day before. The kidos have a basketball game this am but I could see some action today from 180" type bucks rutting today if I could get out.

It does seem bucks grow out late, shed somewhat later than other places, and rut later than other some other geographic areas. In big groups of doe unless a alpha has pushed out a doe in heat he is around the group.

Interesting that I am seeing fewer 180"+ bucks this year also not as many in the 170 and up class very few if any pushing the golden mark. Just the hard winter of 2016 working still showing its effects.

Good luck to anyone still looking at deer and if anyone else has a report again it is interesting to see the differences due to geography.

Here's a few bucks in the back yard this weekend. I missed a good photo op when two bucks were fighting, got the camera after it was over. Check out the pic of the buck who's eye got plucked out.......from an earlier fight.

Rut is starting to wind down a bit here bucks still chasing doe - at least the bucks are not running out in front of cars blind lol.
