My zeiss 8x42 victory’s are about 9 years olds, non hd. Still amazing glass. They aren’t my western binos, deer hunting. And I choose them over swar for this very reason they were brighter in low light.

Stand hunting in timber it can be significantly darker then a field a bit away from you and I want to be able to find and judge in dark yet legal light.

Also some of my spots are a mile from the road across a field to the timber edge. Going in before light.... I do because I can clearly see deer at night To maybe 400 yards. If hey are in my path I can hold on a weed edge till thy move on. Many times I have glassed my way going extra early to slowly move in. I’ve had deer in front of me, and groups move in behind me as I moved towards my spot never getting busted. Wind has to be right, but that’s when I want bright glass.
