Got another today while checking trail cams. Young dog that was a little to curious. It was windy as heck so I threw the old Sako 243 in and it did the job, dumped him just as he went to take off at 120yds or so. I knew when he started moving as I was squeezing the trigger I'd hit him to far back, but the 243 is pretty forgiving on shot placement so I finished the shot. The 90gr Accubond hit and he dropped.

I missed the big coyote I called in with distressed jack rabbit call. Heard this fella sneak up behind me at about 10 yards after the shot. From what I’m told this is a pretty damn big badger.

Got a badger yesterday, but between hitting him with the 25-06 and finishing him off with the 3/4 ton Chevy he wasn't picture worthy. Damn those things are tough.

40 coyotes for the year now. I've been cheating, we had a calf we'd weaned die and I have the carcass in a location I can check morning and night while working.

Good deal congratulations!

I'm at 45 for now. It's deer season here now and I've passed on coyotes under 100 yds on Wed, Thurs, and Friday in one of my favorite deer spots. I have pics of a 175" 11pt in the same area that I want worse than I want 50 coyotes (my goal for 2018). Deer seem to rut in that area and leave about now when that ends so I will be back after next Sunday to try to rack up some coyotes. I shot a triple there last year and won a tournament off it.

That’s awesome, good luck on that buck!!

It's been slow for a bit here, but I got one yesterday. It's been really warm and we've had some windy days. Not great calling weather for sure. Called in this female really late in the stand right before dark. #46 on the year. I was getting up to leave and spotted her. I always look really careful before I stand up, while standing up, and after I stand up before I move after a stand. I spotted this one as I was slowly standing and sank back down. She was looking at the decoy and never caught my movement. If I'd have moved fast I'd have got busted. I dropped her facing me at 114 yards.

This female wandered by while I was trying to fill a doe tag. .450 Bushmaster NOT ideal for minimizing hide damage!

Nice! The badger from a few posts up was a good one. I've ran into a few down in Owyhee County that were pretty good sized. We used to have really good luck hunting dogs down there too but with all the people that have moved here in the last 10 years, the dogs are very shy. Keep whackin and stackin!

Looking like 46 will be the final tally for the year unless I run into one on the drive to the new years party. I'll throw the rifle in in case I spot one where I have permission on my way. The end of December just didn't pan out as I'd hoped. Good calling weather and time off work didn't line up. Oh well, more coyotes to shoot in 2019. Happy new years everyone.

I have enjoyed this thread tremendously! My dad and I have never dedicated a ton of time to hunting coyotes but shot 3 while on a cow elk hunt this month which gave us something to go off of! We have an old Remington 22-250 and will probably pick another one up soon. Looking forward to contributing to your 2019 thread if you start one up! Happy New Year!
