We had a long day of hiking and glassing. Spotted a few bucks and most turned out to be younger bucks.

At almost last light we finally found a mature whitetail and I was able to close the deal. My biggest whitetail to date and I got to kill it with Branden and Rob who packed out all the meat for me. Great ending to a long day.

Congratulations to you and your dad. Those are both nice bucks. I wish you equal luck with the rest of your tags.

Rob tagged out this evening on a 4 point. It was super fun getting to hunt with family again. After I moved east I don’t get to hunt with them that often. Hopefully Dylan, Tanya, and Justin have fun with the next 3 tags.

Like Branden said, it was a great trip. We are on the road now to pick up my son Dylan in WA for his cow tag.

Here's Rob's buck from last night.

Just before dark I spotted a couple cows coming out to feed. Dylan and I hustled to a spot he could see them through the thick brush and I quickly set up the tripod for him. Unfortunately he hit a small branch that I didn't see and the cows ran off. We followed their tracks for a ways and never found any blood.

Nothing better than spending time in the woods with your kids, harvest or not. Hopefully he gets another opportunity. Good luck!

Hey Roksliders!

I just arrived in ND for the first leg of a 3600 mile, three-state hunting trip. First up my best friend Rob, my Dad, and I all have buck tags for ND. The second leg will be back in WA for my son's youth cow tag. Then I'll finish up with Robby and the Averys as Tanya and I hunt mule deer in ID.

I'll try to post updates as often as possible so stay tuned!

As a NR how many years did it take you to draw Muley bucks!? For residents most units take 6-10 years.
