    Just Draw already New Mexico!!!

I struck out on NR Unit 34 deer and elk. That wasn't the news I was hoping for today, but I have family in Unit 34, so I might tag along on a hunt or two if they get drawn.

    Building new Easton axis arrows

You should be good to go with 50 grain inserts and 125 grain heads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Heated glove?

All the Outdoor Research gear I have tried has been extremely high quality. If your father has the need for heated gloves and you have the coin to buy them, I wouldn't doubt that they are worth the money. If you have a problem with them, OR will have you covered.

    Utah Elk Hunt Help

I hunted the South Slope and North Slope in 2016. The North Slope is easy terrain with a lot of roads and a lot of hunting pressure. The northern end of the South Slope is rough terrain with few roads and a lot lower pressure compared to the North Slope, but there are fewer elk. I was in the...

2018 for First Lite...30 new pieces.

Does the Catalyst come with a hood and pit zips? Is First Lite releasing mid and heavy weight Aerowool?

    Heavy Poundage Bows

I ran your specs through Archer’s Advantage and with your current arrows, you will be very slightly underspined with you plan. In my experience, software is overly stiff on optimum spine, so I think you will be fine. You can also use your current set up as is. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Layering question

I always take a coffee thermos on late season hunts. When the cold really starts getting to you, a few sips of refreshing hot coffee can keep you out longer. It adds warmth to your body and soul. I don’t worry about the scent if it means the difference between hunting longer or calling it a...

    Best Gear Grab of 2017!

First Lite Tundra balaclava. It kept me out longer on stand in freezing temps with wind and snow for hours longer that I thought I could muster. It is a great piece of kit for hunting the late season. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Best waist belt for hunting pants?

I use suspenders, but I’d like to know about pack friendly belts as well. Are the First Lite, Sitka, Kryptek, etcbelts worth trying? All my belts are for concealed carry and are horribly painful under a pack. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    my 80# RX-1 ultra

That’s impressive. I love my 75 lb Carbon Defiant Turbo, an 80 lb Ultra with Turbo cams would be a real screamer. Have you thought about switching out cams? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

First Lite Observasions from a newbie

Agreed. The hand warmer pockets are a pain in the rear to use. I have to fight the elastic to get my hands in. They are very warm, but I use a hand muff instead. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    New for 2018?

I'm interested in new glass. I saw Randy Newberg testing a set of Leopold laser range finding binos on one of his day to day hunts on YouTube. I tried to hold off upgrading my binos and rangefinder until they came out, but I missed the one and only buck I saw this year when my old Leupold RX2...

    Nalgene vs. Water Bladder

I typically carry both a 2L bladder and 1L Nalgene in my pack. I use flavor and supplements in the Nalgene and plain water in the bladder. When I work up a sweat or stop to take a break, it is nice to gulp down a tasty sweet beverage rather than sucking on a tube. The bladder is for staying...

Hoyt carbon RX-1 or RX-1 turbo?

For long distance shooting, I would opt for the longer ATA Ultra rather than the Turbo. I love my Turbos and prefer lower letoff bows, but I built mine for slinging heavy fast hunting arrows. Speed isn’t that important for 3D if you know the distance and accuracy trumps all. At that point, you...

    My 197 6/8 Archery Buck!

Wow, what a monster. Just a little bit jealous. Hunting MO public land hasn’t been very fruitful for me this year. The only buck I saw was a fork horn and I passed on many does. Hopefully, that will change starting tomorrow morning. The weather calls for snow and winds up to 15 mph. I’ll be...

Where the heck is the meateater?

I dropped cable 7 years ago. Lately, I’ve been spending every night watching Randy Newberg, Born and Raised Outdoors, and Hush on YouTube while I work on revising genetics manuscripts for submission or peer review. If it weren’t for the growth of digital media, I wouldn’t be able to see Randy...

GPS vs IPhone have a question for you guys

I have both and used both at the same time last year. My IPhone OnX app had better layers on the maps IF I downloaded them ahead of time. I hunted three units in Utah last year and I only downloaded maps for one. I used my Garmin Oregon 600 with OnX chip most of the time and had my only elk...
