    Double bow case - skb

I have the 4719 and would expect it is 35# empty, as it quickly gets to 50# even with one bow, clothes and some other items. I bet it could fit two bows, but it would be tough with your site on it. You could also probably try for a rifle/shotgun in addition to a bow. But I've never done...

KUIU Layering System - Am I off on these pieces?

OK - that may be fine. I had a bad experience with Kuiu (lots of it) stand hunting, but realized after the fact that it isn't built for that Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

    Backcountry water purifier recommendations

The Sawyer squeeze worked well for my buddy and me, even with some nasty water (although we needed to backflush). I used Aqua tabs for this batch because we were particularly concerned about the water being stagnant, but every other time the Sawyer alone was aweseome.

Idea for wider sleeping pad for back sleepers - for your elbows?

That's exactly what I'm talking about for the sleeping pad! Fwiw, the tie downs on the Katabatic worked really well for me Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Idea for wider sleeping pad for back sleepers - for your elbows?

My quilt worked really well whether I was sleeping on my side, on my back, or moving in between. However, my sleeping pad didn't seem wide enough when I was sleeping on my back because I like to extend my elbows out from my side - but the pad is only wide enough for my body. Seems like someone...

    Gloves

+1 I have tried lots of gloves, including all of the Kuiu except the mittens (and sometimes wearing several in combination). Of those, I think the Northstar were the best, but I wouldn't say they permit much dexterity. I *think* the problem is that no clothing does anything other than to...

Rookie CO Elk hunter - random observations/changes after 1st DIY/OTC hunt

Bladder options in backpacks - easy to access your bladder and not too squashed?

For those of you who refill using the quick disconnect, do you ever have problems knowing if you have completely refilled the bladder - if you have a full pack? My buddy said he tried this approach in the military and with a full pack, it is hard to fill it completely when all the other stuff...

Scared to move on from my Jetboil?!

Admittedly I've just done one elk trip but my BSR took forever to boil water and used lots of fuel. After many envious looks at my buddy's jetboil, and having him heat my coffee water, I bought the way heavier Jetboil flash. Love it. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk

Bladder options in backpacks - easy to access your bladder and not too squashed?

Great idea. Any concern about rupture and getting stuff inside wet? I *think* that's one of the reasons that Exo has a separate pouch. Guess if on top there is less pressure on it, and it wouldn't be a big deal for me because I pack some stuff in a liner in my bag (down stuff, including sleeping...

Bladder options in backpacks - easy to access your bladder and not too squashed?

For those of you who are bladder guys, how do you run your bladder in your pack (what options are out there)? I just used a MR Metcalf and while the pouch for the bladder is very roomy, it is hard to access (to fill, or to see how much is left). My hunting buddy was using the new Exo K3 4800...

    To the people of Wyoming...

I almost turned off this podcast when he said the Constitution is obsolete, but I decided to finish it. I don't mind Steve giving folks the opportunity to speak, even if I disagree (vehemently) with them. I'm now better informed and can choose to vote with my pocketbook (although I don't think...

Flying with bow and hand gun

This probably doesn't help, but at each airport in my last 4 flights with a pistol in my bow case, I asked (very politely - "may I ask you a question sir/mam?") - how many locks do I need on this case? Each time the answer was "well, you can probably get away with just two, but the TSA website...

Rookie CO Elk hunter - random observations/changes after 1st DIY/OTC hunt

My buddy and I were unsuccessful in CO units 14 and 231, but we had a great time and we are already planning for 2020. Here's a list of things I would do differently, things that were more important than I expected, etc. Because we took a break mid-trip in Steamboat, I was able to change some...

inReach account set-up, not for me

No problem with my setup, or connecting with my phone or watch - but I bought my unit and set everything up well in advance so that I could test everything out without being rushed or out in the wilderness. Yes the msgs sometimes were out of order, or delayed when I didn't have a clear line of...
