    New varmint rifle

22-250 is my go to. I also use a 6br cause it’s better in the wind and will take forever to shoot out. And very easy to load for.

    McMillan McWalnut

Think it is actually called a McWoody. The polishing process… with Mcmillans you can polish it as it comes, without adding clear or anything. Just be careful not to sand Thru the factory gel coat. Basically I started wet sanding at 800grit, then 1000, then 2000. Might’ve hit it with something...

    Christensen Arms Mesa Problems?

I have been wondering the same thing? So far a I have 80rounds Thru my 6.5cm Mesa. While It’s tough to test accuracy during break-in(shoot 6 and clean), what groups I did shoot have shot more like 1.5moa out to 400yds. Not bad but also not near as good as I expected out of the box. That was...

    McMillan McWalnut

I like them too. Hand polished this McSwirly. Took forever but turned out great! I’d like to get a McWalnut next and do the same way.

Nice! I would take that any day.

CA Mesa vs Xbolt Mountain Pro

Same here in that my 6.5 Mesa weighs 6.6lbs. Friends with a 6.5prc was 7.3 but also has a 2”longer barrel. CA does sell the hinged floor plate, bolt knob, and stock off their titanium Mesa FFT model which knocks some off the weight? But that’s $750 for all that and maybe only a 1/2lb savings...

    6.5CM using 130gr Berger VLD

Yep. That seems to be what I’m seeing from what I could find doing online searches.

    6.5CM using 130gr Berger VLD

Thanks for the info.. I did email Berger and got a response very quickly with their load data. Doesn’t show H4350 but some of the other powders are close to what is shown on the Nosler data sheet. Here it is for anyone else interested:

    6.5CM using 130gr Berger VLD

Anyone running the Berger 130 Hunting VLD’s in their 6.5CM? So I just ordered some and will be using h4350 and LR primers. Gun is a CA Mesa w/a 22” barrel. Looking at various load data ranges I’ve seen some charge differences among manufacturers. Like Nosler shows a range of 39-43grs but...

Leupold Ultimate Slam or Hunt Plex for Savage 220?

I agree with Dave. I also have the ultimate slam on my 220 and, while it is a super nice and clear scope, the lower holdovers have basically been useless. I have played with the ranges a little, but in reality I don’t hunt from a fixed rest and me taking a 200+ yard freehand shot with this gun...

It wasn’t Talley - it’s apparently me. Scope won’t stay fixed - Update: fixed. Added to first post

Glad it all worked out. Funny thing is that this evening I will be mounting a scope on my new 6.5cm and shooting it tomorrow… after following this all week I will now be watching for scope movement after every shot…lol.

It wasn’t Talley - it’s apparently me. Scope won’t stay fixed - Update: fixed. Added to first post

Did you try putting a small alignment mark on the scope and ring(I.e. small thin line of nail polish or similar)? Just to positively confirm it is turning in the rings…and is doing so in multiple sets of rings? Are you positive it isnt the scope? Have you tried a different scope? You’ve already...

6.5 Creedmoor/260 for Deer, Elk, and whatever else.....

Great info. Been using a 260 for long range prairie dogs and ground hogs for years, but just bought a 6.5cm to play with on some deer. My concern was does the 6.5 maintain enough energy to ethically kill larger game(deer, black bear, maybe a mule deer) at longer ranges. This thread has pretty...
